I skimmed the article but I couldn't find the part about how the nurse died.

I think she commited suicide? I could be wrong, but that's what I heard.

I'm failing to see how it's the DJs fault. They didn't do anything out of malice, it was a stupid prank call about a celebrity.

The nurse handed out personal (yet completely boring and unimportant) information over the phone to strangers and then commit suicide over it(?) - I'd say that's entirely her problem. So nobody should ever prank anybody ever again because the person getting pranked may be made unstable, is that the moral of this story?

Whether or not you think a prank isn't dangerous, it still resulted in the likely suicide of a person. Therefore, it is no longer only a joke. It has directly caused a death. There is a new set of legal ramifications for something like this. It doesn't make either of us right or wrong, but understanding that this situation has escalated, and is not just a "gag", is important.

I don't think they should be blamed for her death, but firing them both and ending their careers doesn't sound extreme to me either.

I can't agree with IMMEDIATELY blaming pranksters for a death before any meaningful facts come out.

"Suspected Suicide", going by the video in the link.

Remember that the next time you want to pull a seemingly innocent prank on someone.

    PRANKS CAUSE SUICIDES.

High media profile pranks resulting in the release of a royals confidential medical details is slightly different than dropping a banana skin on the floor. If you've never been the center of a media feeding frenzy you wouldn't apeciate how disturbing it can be.

The facts will take time, but bad publicity is instantaneous.

How great would it be if the nurse was pulling a prank on the DJ's!

Considering that banana peel prank is far more likely to kill the person getting pranked, I don't really see how in the context of this story.

I understand WHY they are getting blamed, but that doesn't stop me from thinking it's asinine that they are. Who's to say she wasn't going to commit suicide soon anyway?

Now that would be payback indeed.

I didn't say it was "right" for them to be blamed, I said it's no longer a "simple" prank due to the fact that a person has seemingly committed suicide as a result of their actions.

Yes, the woman could have committed suicide otherwise, but right now, it appears that she has done so because of their actions. Whether or not YOU and I agree with it, that doesn't change the facts of the situation. We still don't know everything, so I'm sure there will be much more information to come. Hyperbole does not strengthen your argument or make you right or wrong. Trying to compare other instances of jest doesn't apply either, due to the size and scale of the people involved in the "prank".

Personally, I could care less if they are fired. Because I personally would have thought twice before doing some kind of prank like that to anyone. In my own opinion, it was stupid to do the prank.

Not to a royal family, or to anyone that wasn't a friend of mine. There's a huge difference between fun between friends, and the infinite grey area when attempting to "prank" complete strangers.

I don't think many people would agree that "jokes among friends" is a comparible situation to what has happened over the past few days. The royal family is a serious topic, and the culture within the UK is much different than in the U.S.

I'm not saying those DJ's should absolutely be punished and fired, but they need to accept whatever consequence they receive as a result of their actions.

It's a joke, not a dick. Don't take it so hard.

Leo, you're wrong. The DJs action has nothing to do with the reaction in this case. Her actions were the cause of her reaction.

the articles that I have read said that the woman who died took the call from the pranksters but handed the call off to a supervisor nurse who was the one who handed out information.
So in essence if this is true the lady who killed hersefl did nothing wrong which probably means her suicide had nothing to even do with this prank
