As the title says I recently got back into collecting the Transformers toys, I just got Voyager Class Grimlock yesterday and I was wondering if there are any toys you would suggest I buy? Keep in mind I have a budget since I'm only 16.

    Welcome back.

Since you bought Grimlock, I assume you're a fan of the movie aesthetic. As someone who isn't even I will admit that seeing a bunch of Dinobots looks rather impressive. Scorn is apparently highly regarded. Slug is supposedly pretty good. And the plus side is that these guys are at retail AND retail prices have been dropping it seems.

But my general rule of thumb is to buy what I think looks cool. I'll generally watch some reviews to learn a bit more but if I don't like something I don't buy it.

Thank you, honestly the Voyager class toys are expensive enough. I spent 26 dollars on Grimlock. I do like the movie toys though you are correct in that statement. I'm glad to hear that the retail prices appear to be dropping too.

I think Deluxe Scorn is awesome! Also, Walmart now has Deluxes at $9.97 so buy them there!

The Walmart I went to had them at 12 dollars still. Also the way Walmart markets the toys is bad. There was Leader Class toys in the Voyager Class section.

If you have a phone, take a screen cap of the prices online and they'll price match them for you. And yeah, Walmart is always unorganized.

I also don't like how undetailed the toys are. I mean they could look like this

Biggest advice? Always price-match if it's an option.

Also, look around on our forums for buying some older TFs from years back. Way better than purchasing figures at scalping prices on eBay, though you can get lucky on some auctions.

I'll buy them from the stores for now. I only have cash. No credit or anything else.

Is the first picture a custom? Putting paint apps like that on a mass release figure would drive the cost through the roof.

I know, But I was saying that they could make them more detailed, not like the custom one, but at least a little more than what they have.

You should spend a decent amount of time on the various transformer sites like this one or tfwiki to decide which lines or characters you want to collect. Ebay isn't a bad place to get an idea on pricing and to do general searches. You can get deals on there for figures who aren't in high demand but it will probably be cheaper to buy from guys on the forum.
