I was looking at all the new figures be they remolds or repaints in the cybertron line and I began to think why all of them have the earth planet key, what I believe the reason for this is well all the transformers from cybertron have been transported to earth so I guess Hasbro is just building up the ranks of the earth bound transformers, rather then only the main characters of the show being the only one's in toy form, I mean cybertron in energon had random dull transformers and they didnt really catch much interest One transformer I would like to be seen done is a retool of Longrack from beast wars neo into one of the many brachiosaurus which are on animatros (i dont want to say the cybertron version)
I wouldn't really mind them making some of the Decepticons Earth key users, if they did the smart thing and said they were part of the Earth Decepticon army from the artic so that'd make sense, rather than mentioning they all work for Megatron which contradicts the show. Generally, given it's such an easy way of making a mold seem a bit different, I'm just content for them to use different keys to the original use of the mold whenever possible. Phazer
Yeah that would have made much more sense. The bios never really bother me since 99% of the time I rename the toy anyway because it's a re-hashed name, and give it a story of my own but damn some of the bios for the repaints are stupid, especially in the Energon era with all the robotic family tree crap... I agree about the keys too.
Good observation and theory but at least Scrapmetal and Red Starscream (sold with the Hasbro Vector) kept their Decepticon Force Chips. Also while Wreck Loose is not a recolor, he kept his Beast Planet Key as well, as did Dark Crumplezone keeping his Speed Planet key. There are other exceptions too.
Actually......this line is almost dead even. Toys Autobots: 32 Decepticons: 30 Non-alligned: 3 Characters Autobots: 26 Decepticons: 25 Non-alligned: 3 I'd say its pretty even. especially considering the Three un-alligned characters are all villans as well. And thats not even counting the Mini-cons. And theres still some repaints unaccounted for yet. Smokescreen and Demolishor.
are there really that many Dcons? my display shelfs are set up by sides, and my autobots are just massively overwhelming....and thats with sideways on the Dcons side...and i agree a remold of longrack could make a great dino....but i dont think itd happen...and his legs would have to be shortened alot
NexusPrime: But they don't all have the Earth key. Earth: Brushguard Runamuck Cannonball Shortround (I think) Swindle Skywarp Jungle: Repugnus Dark Scorponok Speed: Swerve Dark Crumplezone Override GTS Cybertron (A. or D.): Longrack Buzzsaw It seems like the ones that transform into fairly normal Earth vehicles got Earth keys, the animals got Jungle, and the futuristic designs either Cybertron or Speed. This also seems to have been the way the keys were assigned to the original Cybertron molds, though probably the toys were designed to fit the planet. Overhaul is of course an exception.
I guess it just seems like there are more Autobots. Maybe its because a lot of the Decepticon molds arn't all that great in this line. Energon seemed to have much better disigns for the Decepticons over the Autobots while I prefer the Autobots this time around.
