Hey guys, I recently on the recommendation of other members of the boards to pick up a Molotow Liquid Chrome pen. Now, I got the 2mm nib, but I think I’m going to get the smaller nib for more finer details, but the 2mm nib is great for larger areas.

    Some disclaimers:

It’s best to ensure that the tip is soaking with paint before applying to any toy, this reduces the chance of streaks.

This stuff takes a while to dry, like don’t touch it for a week or you’ll lose the mirror shine.

Once dried, don’t clear coat, one it doesn’t need a top coat (or a primer for that matter) but if you do clear coat it will go cloudy and lose the mirror shine.

There’s loads of tutorials at the RPF forums, which look at colour glazed and air brush compatibility etc

So what did I do with this magic pen?

    First up was POTP slug/slag

Then I got a really sad G1 pipes in a lot recently

    After:

Got a few other bits that I don’t want to handle yet, but honestly this is just like magic to me!

Those pens will smudge and leave finger prints no matter how long you leave them unfortunately. I chromed a bunch of stuff with them, and after a few hours I went over it ever so lightly with a Qtip dipped in Future; it'll seal it up perfectly so you can handle it as rough and frequently as you like, and you only give up like 10% of the mirror shine.

It'll be all means still look chromed and awesome, but again, you won't have to worry about smudging it.

    Some Future coated chrome photos:

Personally, I feel the trade off of "slightly less mirror finish" for a more durable finish is totally worth it.....again, as you can see in the photos, it still looks chrome-tastic!
