Heya team, I'm about to do a little detailing on my Animated Rodimus to you know...make him mine...and I was considering upgrading his spoiler/wing... Looking at the pics, do y'all think it's too much, or kind of badass? I suppose it wouldn't be permanent due to the nature of how the spoiler is connected to his back, but I thought I'd fish for some feedback first... Thanks!
Yeah the yellows match pretty nicely...this wing is an off the shelf item I discovered at a couple of my local hobby shops. It is part of a stabalizer fin set for a Blade series RC helicopter... Horizon Hobby: Stabilizer/Fin Set, Yellow: B400 by BLADE (EFLH1472Y) It's around $4 for the set, and makes a great Hot Rod/Rodimus style rear wing. Almost no painting involved, just modding the piece to fit where you need it. I used the same wing for my Rodimus/Ironhide custom and it just completed the look you know? I think I'm going to go ahead and mod the wing to a post that can be inserted into the original hole so it will be fully functional thru transformation. Thanks you guys!
Yeah, while I like the original toy just fine, I do wish the fin was a little bigger, your mod looks great! Can't wait to see it when you're done with it.
Should be lower, so it just barely shows over his shoulders. That's how it is in all his art; is that possible? His chest is also too big now that I look at it...
Yeah it could totally be lowered some more...the wing piece is flat, so all one would have to do is raise/lower the position of the attached peg. I know what you mean about the chest...I was thinking that the larger spoiler would kind of pull away from that and add a little more balance to the torso/chest area.
The main problem with a yellow spoiler is, it turns the clear blue plastic from the front green and it doesn’t look good. The original gold spoiler didn’t affect the clear blue plastic too much.
That is a very good point, and I didn't even think about that until you pointed it out...which is a good thing! Maybe I can cut the "V" a little deeper, and re-work the wing just a bit to compensate for that...
