What’s there to appreciate in Ratchet? Well, his design is awesome, and he’s got a great voice actor (Robert Foxworth – JOHNNY QUEST"s Race Bannen), and he chopped off Brawl’s arm and, uh... he didn’t destroy Cybertron because that was Bumblebee, and besides he wouldn’t do something like that... uh...

Ah, slag it. Movie Ratchet is my second favourite version, but I hope he does something worthwhile in TF4. He is quite possibly the most underrated Transformer in the movieverse, or perhaps most other TF continuities. There’s too much offense and not enough defense in these films; Ratchet deserves his own action scene which can showcase his talents as a warrior and as a medic; a scene where he navigates a battlefield picking up wounded soldiers/Autobots would be awesome and would do Ratchet justice.

    Add this to the list....

He was also the only character to avoid getting damaged throughout the entire trilogy.

I love Ratchet. He's hilarious. I don't understand why fans portray him in fanfiction as ill-tempered as the Ratchet in TFP, though. This version is a lot calmer. Not that he doesn't have a temper (in ROTF, after Optimus died) but I guess since we see so little of him, people writing his character fill in the blanks by making him throw wrenches.

I imagine he's more likely to cut you with words than his buzz saw. He's intellectual like that.

What seriously? Cranky Ratchet doesn't work for everyone ! I like this bland, mild tempered, personality-blank-slate of a Ratchet.

I like this Ratchet. He doesn't get fired up like the others. Plus his scientific insults are badass. :D

    Hope he makes into TF4.

He's got an interesting design. He's one of the bigger Bots. He's a damn sharp shooter. He's got a neat voice. He takes little damage. He's always by Prime's side. He's kind and calm.

Movie Ratchet will always be a favorite of mine.

The one good thing about Ratchet was his voice. Sadly other than that he was a pale reflection of any other universe Ratchet. A better warrior than a medic.
His robot mode was acceptable, though he needed the head fan. And I hated his vomit green color. It's Rescue Ratchet, or bust. Specialist Ratchet is also acceptable.

He voiced Race Bannen? That's awesome!

Also, another thing to add: he totes fixed Bee's legs after mission city. At least, it's implied that he did.

My bro. I do like Movie Ratchet, even if his screentime be lacking. When danger calls, he answers :)

This kind of applies to all of the robot characters though, doesn't it?

Movie Ratchet had the potential to be a full-on Boss. Suffered from a lack of screentime, like everyone else, and also a really freaking ugly color choice. Hurk. Don't understand why we couldn't have gone with something less...noxious. He was still cool when we did get time with him, and his mellow attitude was a nice change of pace.

Really, really hoping to see him again in TF4...hopefully with a new paint job.

Definitely like movie Ratchet's design and his voice. Now if his role could've been expanded upon, that would've been awesome.

    This.

Actually, comparing the Bayformers robots' screentime and dialogue to other live-action movies with voiced characters, the Bayformers robots don't fare too poorly; sometimes even better than other movies with voiced characters.

The main characters seem to do fine with quantity of screentime and dialogue, but it just seems to be that if you aren't a "main" character, you're virtually non-existant. I think it's the sheer number of animated/voiced characters that works against Bayformers the most.

Hard to talk about someone who was essentially just background filler the entire trilogy, especially when he's overshadowed by his other-continuity counterparts. I like how he was unintentionally awkward and a little quirky in the first movie, and his design is nice and distinctive, but for the most part he was just there.

Ratchet is a juggernaut. The reason you see so little of him is every time he's offscreen he's doing something incredible that makes everyone else look like fuzzy cat plushies with hearts on their asses. He's a tiger-born, cosmic miracle king warrior who takes shit from no one and gives shit to everyone. A master marksman, a theoretical physics genius, he can heal anyone instantly but won't for fear his magical regenerating energies may leak a hole in the fabric of space and time and create a temporal wormhole that no one but himself could hope to escape. This cold reality eats at him every day like a metaphorical praying mantis demon with whom he undertakes a grueling and ferocious battle every day. Were his inner conflict ever revealed all his friends would be at risk, and so he hides his struggle, channeling it into a burning rage which cleanses evil from the galaxy. In spite of these overwhelming powers and abilities he remains humble, hopeful, and loyal to all who know kindness to innocence and ire to those with evil in their hearts. Also he's a wizard, but that doesn't come up a lot. I mean he never really needs to wizard-out. Besides his one-of-a-kind star-white wizard robe accidentally got mixed in with the reds and came out pink. He really hated that. There were no survivors.

Also kudos to not buckling under peer pressure and sticking to his guns about, ya know, not being an ambulance like every Ratchet ever but instead being badass, four-wheeled fire rescue. What fire you ask? The fire that pours forth from his tempest soul into a burning sea upon which he sails for a better future.
