Unlike most Transformers series.

The Autobots and Decepticons don't carry hand-held weapons, instead, the weapons are transformed from within their hands or arms. Skyquake seems to be one exception.

Edit: Wheeljack also demonstrated using hand-held swords only

For the Autobots, they each have a type of melee or bladed weapon and blasters.

But Bumblebee only has blasters, and Ratchet only has blades.

Any thoughts as to why they seem to be missing an alternate weapon?
Or they simply haven't used them yet?

 

While Bumblebee doesn't appear to have a melee weapon like the other Autobots, he does just fine punching them with his fists. On the other hand, Ratchets lack of a ranged weapon really stands out. There's been several instances where a gun would have been good, yet he didn't draw one. Probably connected to his being a Medic.

Also, Wheeljack has hand-held swords.

 

Bumblebee punched a hole inside a dude and ripped his internals off.

Giving him handheld weapons would make the Autobots instantly win the war.

 

well, Ratchet had that welder (that's what google says, I don't know how to say it in english) that he used to torture the miner decepticon in Faster, Stronger

 

Yeah, I forgot about Wheeljack's swords, thanks for reminding me.

I did think the reason Ratchet only has blades is because those were originally intended for medical, surgery purposes. But for the brains of the group, it seems foolish of him not to add a projectile/energy weapon.

Maybe his light/torch is supposed to serve as an alternate weapon.

 

Ratchet has definitely shown he's capable enough to use his welder/ surgical metal cutter as a weapon. Just ask that Miner.

Ratchet's weapon is like a Healing Gun for the Autobots,and Bumblebee's melee Weapon is his strings for Animated.

 

I think Ratchet will pull out a BAMF and use both the Immobilizer and the Polary Gauntlet as his main weapons on the season finale.

 

Phht. Ratchet has eye lasers. Duh!

 

Wheeljack has a blaster too but he only uses it once.

BB is fine with his fists since he apparently graduated the Autobot academy as the boxing champ.

Ratchet it unusual although he does have the polarity gauntlet and immobilizer in a functional state so he could wind up using those. Especially the gauntlet because that would just be such a blatant reference to Animated and would be really awesome.

I find it curious that Skyquake is the only robot that uses only handheld weapons. He's got a minigun in the show and the toy has a sword but neither converts from his hands in any way.

Okay but she doesn't turn her hands into an actual gun right? That means she also has none transforming weapons.

 

Well, Wheeljack does have that arm cannon.....
