I ordered the voyager TLK prime from Walmart.com and when I went to pick it up, I noticed it had an autograph on the front of the box. I looked online and it matches Peter Cullen's autograph. Has anyone else had this happen?
Either this is fake(most likely), or someone who had multiples got one signed, and tried to return the others only to mostakenly return the incorrect one.... This has to he fake.
But who would fake it? the random guy in the Walmart warehouse? That seems unlikely. Maybe someone at the hasbro factory, but why? In case you were thinking me, I definitely didn't fake it. I haven't been a member of this board for 15 years to look like a fool for randomly faking an autograph. The other scenario (mistakenmy returned the wrong figure) could be possible, but has there even been a con that Cullen attended since these were released? also, why would a returned figure be sent to me through Walmart.com? It's not like I picked this off the shelf. At first when I saw it, I thought it read "pick up" and was slightly irritated that someone would write on my box. I then realized that the second word began with a C and thought it might be Cullen's autograph.
That's really the crux of it. That doesn't really make any sense for it to be faked by someone at Walmart or by someone who then returned it to Walmart.
I'm no expert but comparing your picture to my autographed Peter Cullen items the signature does look like his. I hope you got an authentic, that'd be awesome!
Perhaps Hasbro had some of the toys autographed for an upcoming promotion and accidentally shipped a case of the signed figures to Wal-Mart?
Wow, that's a trip. I agree that its a pretty obscure and non practical prank for someone to pull. Maybe email Hasbro with a pic and see what they say. I hope it's real because that would be pretty kewl
I see no reason why someone would fake such an autograph, but Walmart of all places! Maybe there is a site out there that can get this appraised for authenticity if you want to find out its legitimacy. I do hope that this is real though
lol, i bet. The funny thing is that I was really excited to open this guy up and start painting him. Now I have no intention opening the figure. I guess I need to order another one.
I am no expert on Cullen's autograph, but I say fake. If it is authentic, there should be some info you can find online, on Hasbro's page, etc that states there were signed examples randomly released to the public. And to that point, if there were, they would most likely be serial numbered to 20 or 50 or 100, whatever the official signed # is.
Maybe this is Hasbro's way of weeding out who are the true fans who know the autographs; you know, "Cullen" their herd
Because assholes exist. If this is authentic, there is zero chance this would just be returned and re-sold innocently. Hasbro is in the business of making money, and if there are authentic releases of serial #'d signed releases, it would be public knowledge to create more interest and drive sales.
