One of the complaints I’ve seen regarding the Maximals’ characterization in BM was how jaded they all were (they clearly had PTSD), but I wonder if they were joined by a more upbeat optimistic character to balance out their cynicism things would of been more bearable.

    YouTube (Custom URL):
This is straight up just a lie. What is true is that Bob Skir and Marty Isenberg, the showrunners of BM, were specifically told not to watch Beast Wars so that they could do their own thing. But claiming that they "hated Beast Wars" is just a lie.

And IIRC I've heard @SPLIT LIP state that they watched it anyway. Maybe he can verify that though.

Something I've noticed about Animated Shockwave. Spoilered below in respect of traditional Cree beliefs.

I recently noticed that Animated Shockwave's antlers (no other incarnation of Shockwave has them), claws, hooves, and shapeshifting nature are reminiscent of a Wendigo, which is quite fitting for his nature as a Decepticon. If you aren't familiar with Wendigos, they are a monster in Cree folklore known for their deer-like appearance, claws, shapeshifting, and the fact that they are associated with greed. The whole greed part of this is not utilized as much, so I doubt the Animated writers had it in mind, but I've also noticed that Shockwave pretends to be in a position of higher power. It's honestly a quite fitting design choice.

Big fat inappropriate answer. . . Spoiler tagged for content.

Man, I wish I were witty enough to tap into the ancient art of "snaps" to channel some "Unicron / Yo Mama So Fat" material from back in the day...

Which Autobot and Decepticon would be hosts of this Unicron roast?

Laserbeak is a ridiculous name for a Decepticon. I’m not sure why it took me almost 40 years to realize that.

Ugh, no thanks. To each their own, but no. I’ve always been fascinated with prehistoric life, but I’m not interested in seeing them turn into organic-styled robots.

Rattrap wasn't a great name either. Like, he IS a Rat, he's not a trap, he doesn't trap rats.

eh it doesnt need to be organic inspired or looking robot form, like the dinobots being yknow animal based and still standard meh robots rhe above one definetely mixes both aesthetics

anomalocaris and hallucigenia could also be cool, look at these weirdos

They are cool animals, for certain, but not something I find appealing as a Transformer’s alt mode.
