Holy crap! A 4.7 magnitude earthquake just hit. I’ve never felt an earthquake before. What a crazy experience!

As someone who lives in the earthquake prone west coast of the US of a, I'm kind of amused at the reactions but also understand. I mean, I've been rattled by small quakes before.

    This is making me mad.

Two men decided to topple and destroy part of a million year old rock formation near Lake Mead on protected land.

I don't know if anyone else has heard about this, but a bunch of Disney channel pitch bibles have recently been leaked.

Can't really see much of the aurora where I'm at. There's way too many trees in front of my apartment and all I can see it a purple haze at most. It's something though.

I hear if you take a pic of it with your cell phone camera, it might actually get you a good pic.

Can't do that at the moment but as of now, I have seen some purple and green. I'm literally living around the edge of where the aurora should be seen so it's probably not going to be as strong in my neck of the woods.

A curiosity, perhaps a WhyTF. I've been binging a lot of let's-plays recently, and I was reminded of Consumable Syndrome. What is it about limited-use items in games that makes so many players adamantly prefer to just lose rather than spend a resource. "But what if I need it later!" is a common cry, and then there is no later!

People tend to think I'm a cop or military. 6', 225lb, built strong, etc. I have that look, I guess. I never been a cop nor in the military. I wanted, but the opportunity was never there. Actually, after college, I wanted to go into the Army officer candidate school, but all branches were downsizing left and right.

Something I've noticed about the depictions of tsunamis in films is that until the advent of modern CGI, it was usually depicted as a splash towards the camera.

Now it's mostly depicted as a towering wall of water for a lot of media, except for movies and media based on real life events.

Fort Irwin is the one place on the planet that I would never go back to for the military if given a choice.
