Sometimes, when a custom is frustrating me I like to jump on my xbox and slam out some guitar hero (mainly metallica)

So, that being said, if you also have xbox live, feel free to reply with your "gamer ID" and/or invite and challenge me to a quick jam on any guitar hero game.

I'd like this thread to eventually be the list of our xbox live names, and am sure some of you are already on there, and would like to learn a lesson how to lose to a player like me

I've been playing guitar for 23 years, so when my nephews got Guitar Hero last Christmas naturally they wanted Uncle David to come over and rawk the house! 

Well, turns out Guitar Hero ain't like playin' guitar at all! cuz I sux!  

Hope to hear about some really gory "headcuttin' duel" type shred-o-rama action!!! 

Maybe I'll sneak back over to my sister's and cop some lessons from the younguns! 

 

tell me about it. I'm more of a "wannabe" guitar player, though I have 6 guitars. My babies, I maxed a credit card on my electric guitar back in college. I can play majority of pink floyd/zepplin and lots of other classic rock ftw...but frikking suck on GH. Freebird ripped me a new one on GH, but I can play it "for real" (well sorta)

My younger bro is a heavy guitar player, he's actually played with some big name bands...and refused to even touch GH. I think he's just afraid to lose to me

Here's a pic of Buckwkeat, my FIRST guitar! I bought it when I was 15, still play it now, so yeah, pretty much like an extension of me! It's a '67 Gibson SG I got at a pawn shop in '85. Loaded with EMGs and my custom 24 volt booster kit!

 

I think Guitar Hero is fun, but for the same reasons bh says he's not as good at the game is one reason I rarely play. The other reason would be lack of platform

I've never had any interest in Xbox Live, I don't want to pay for online when I already do, and I'd actually be using my existing ISP to play. *shrugs* I love how Sony and Nintendo don't charge for their's.

 

I figured I'd drop the $ for the year, see how I like it, and it's not great (imo) usually get my ass handed to me on GH games...even my 7 year old daughter was confused how/why people who play on expert and miss ZERO notes even bother playing...

I just do it for fun. I have a racing game which is cool to play vs. my brother, and gamefly is pretty neat too.

Also, I have the Satriani Ibenez. I hardly ever touch it anymore. the life of a bachelor was so much "louder"...

 

That first run chrome Satch model? Love the way they look/sound, but my big hands don't feel comfortable on Floyd Rose type bridges. I've been playin' Buckwheat so long everything else feels kinda alien to my hands!

Yeah, I went from my huge a$$ rig (Rocktron Chameleon x2, Axon AX-100 guitar synth, Lexicon Jamman looper/sampler, Mesa Boogie Simul-Class 295 power amp and 4 Marshall 1960 4x12 cabs, two As and two Bs) to one Chameleon and a pair of headphones! The rest is in storage, when I move into my house in St.Augustine (it's rented out right now) I'll have a dedicated music room/studio AND a dedicated TF/kitbash room! Heaven! Can't wait!!

 

Nice F_r! I am partial to the drums on Rock Band Myself on the PS3. Nothing like beating the hell outta them puppies when I get frustrated with modifying or breaking(more latter than former LOL) something. Next thing to help with this is the rerealease of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2!

RB or GH on Guitar != playing real guitar
RB or GH on Drums on Expert == playing real drums ... well, more so with the Ion deluxe kit.

Playing a damn easy riff on guitar is 10x harder in its GH/RB translation. I am/was a rhythm guitarist, so the 'rhythm' part of this 'rhythm game' is fine -- solos, however, I suck big time.

But being a drummer for 10+ years now, that is easily and moreso transferable. You can pretty much go play on a drum kit once you start mastering these games on Hard or Expert. If you can play War Ensemble or Fight Fire With Fire on Expert, then you're totally able to play for reals.

The drawback on being a real drummer is when your drummer instincts start kicking in and you forget to play the actual drum part on the screen. =) One of these days whenever Ion or someone makes a legit double bass add-on, I need to play Expert+ on some of those Metallica songs.

oh hell yes, I agree 100%, it is similar, but of course very different. Heck, I think it was Slash himself who said "This game is hard as hell"...

5 positions for your fingers...and playing sometimes rythem AND lead simultaneously, it's $%#% hard stuff.

 

Aww...ours is a PS3 only household, so unfortunately I can't join the fun, but any PS3 users out there that want to play some Rock Band or Call of Duty, hit me up!

I have only Rock Band at the moment but I will be getting GH:M here in the very near future. I have other games but mostly Halo 3, Gears of War 1 & 2, and Street Fighter 4 as the main consistent one I play at the moment.

I'd love to game and shoot the shart with my fellow Radicons.
