Just heard news that Casey Kasem passed away.. He voiced Bluestreak, Cliffjumper, Dr. Arkeville and Teletraan I in G1. May he rest in peace Here's the news story: "Top 40 legend Casey Kasem died Sunday morning at age 82. Kasem’s daughter Kerri posted a statement on her Facebook page announcing her father’s passing. “Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends,” the statement reads. “Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken.” Kasem was battling advanced Parkinson’s disease at the time of his death." I'm glad he is no longer suffering. The family was up against his wife, who wanted to keep the feeding tube in. rest in peace. He's one of the reasons I'm a DJ.
Yup, RIP Casey. I'll always remember him as the 1980s Top Music Video countdown and of course TF voices.
Mr. Kasem most definitely left his mark on Bluestreak and Cliffjumper. Very sad news to hear today on Father's Day, RIP.
One of the all-time radio greats. I listened to his Top 40 countdown as a kid without realizing until years later that he was also the voice of Cliffjumper, Shaggy, and so many others. Also just seemed like a genuinely good guy who stood by his convictions. With the sad decline at the end, it's good he got to go with some dignity.
Do they still do human inductees for the Transformers Hall of Fame? Casey Kasem as a posthumous inductee would be good, not this year - too soon, but sometime in the future.
And now the real ugliness begins. At least Casey won't have to watch his family tear itself apart even more than it already has.
I was just early this morning watching g1 cartoons with my son. And was telling my son that cliff and streak was the same voice of shaggy. I was thinking about Casey this morning so much so that i went on YouTube and listen to him in 1984 and 1985 top 40 countdown. And just gave me that nostalgia of back in those days. Greatest time in my life. May he Rip. And this should be front news. It's a sad day that one of the most iconic voices in history has passed. Thanks Casey for top 40 and Cliffy and Streak and all the other voice talents you gave us.
I grew up on the Super Friends/ Super Powers / Scooby Doo/ Transformers, so his voice was as recognizable then as Frank Welker, Chris Latta, Peter Cullen, etc
He had a lot of great roles but he'll always be defined as the voice of shaggy for me. He did that part from the 60s to the 2010s!
