I was watching Transformers robts in disguise on vimeo when i came across an episode which revealed that Sideburn's passion for Red sports cars is like Scrapper and Mixmasters Lust for...any sports car And The predacons held kujo whatever his name is,father captive for info just like Sari's Dad was kept Hostage by the Decepticons
I've noticed some references/similarities too. Most notably of which is the Predacons/Decepticons taking the main human character's father as a hostage, and that hostage being a scientist. Another one I've noticed is that Optimus's and Sentinel's relationship is, imo, similar to that of Optimus Prime's and Ultra Magnus's relationship in RID. Only big difference is that Prime and Magnus were brothers. Another, and more blatant, one is Optimus turning into a firetruck, though this was probably wasn't meant as a nod to RID, and more of a reference to him becoming a hero in the show, and the whole emergency vehicle theme his team has. Animated Optimus is the third Optimus Prime to have a firetruck alt-mode (RID and Cybertron being the other two). It'll be interesting to see if the next show has any RID references/similarities. It's not likely to happen, but a remake of RID in a style similar to Animated's would be great, imho.
If you pay attention, I think Animated has references to almost all the series (even the more obscure Japanese ones!). I don't think they reference Energon,, though.
Yeah, in a show that snuck a Braves repaint of a Japanese-exclusive micromaster base figure into a parade, I don't think you need to grasp at straws to find references to any other transformers series. I think the constructicons were just meant to be that stereotypical mysoginistic construction worker, and the idea of evil Decepticons holding a family member hostage to get something they want goes back way farther than RiD. There probably are some blatant references to RiD in there somewhere though, so keep looking.
In the first Dinobot episode, Grimlock says something like "Cars bad! Robots Bad! Car Robots WORSE!" Car Robots is the name for Japan's version of RiD. It's also the only non-G1 show that doesn't involve Grimlock's VA.
Of course! I totally frogot about that joke (although I thought it the best part of the whole episode )
You can also qualify this A Megatron trying to control a humoungous robot (RID: Fortress Maximus, Animated:Lugnut Supreme) Each Optimus defeats their respective antagonists with a sacred weapon. The antagonists are taken prisoners aboard a giant TF who turns into spacecraft to Cybertron The two Megatrons were both swordweilders as Both Optimi used their fire truck euipment as weaponry. There was an awesome Prowl in both continuities.
I noticed that all the shows contain vehicles or other things that actually transform into robotic entities. Trippy, I know!
But Flareup isn't an Energon character. She's Universe, and she simply was shoehorned into the mold since that was the only female mold availiable. Well, sorta, but at least she didn't yell all the time AND actually matured to an extent as well as be useful occasionaly.
