Hi, is the panel in the back of ROTF demolishor's head supposed to clip into the molded parts on his back, that's shaped like a V?

 

Nothing really "clips" per se, but it does cover it, yes.
In excavator mode, it's unfolded.

 

But you are supposed to push it on to the moldings?

 

If you are referring to the 2 tiny tabs on the sides, yes, they sit in the little grooves. They don't clip, just sit there.

 

Yes, push it onto the moldings.
