Hi im looking for anyone who has worked at Disney World because i have some questions and Im thinking about wanting to apply for a temporary job down there. Please send me a message asap, thanks
I don't work for them, but have close friends and relatives who do. What do you want to know? Here's some up-front stuff: Unless you're some sort of highly-skilled person (performer, technician, etc) you'll start off at minimum wage or close to it, which is $7.93/ hr in Florida. It take about two weeks for your benefits to kick in, but you get a pass that lets you into the parks, unless they're expecting a lot of business on those particular days- like pretty much every weekend in the summer for Magic Kingdom, Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood studios, etc. You will also get a pass that, up to 12 times a year, allows you to bring in up to 3 guests with you. You may also get bonus "e-tickets" which you can give to people so they can go into the parks without your pass, but those are more limited. You generally get a discount. I believe it's 20% to start with, and gets as high as 35%, depending on how long you've worked there. This is good at most restaurants and for merchandise, but no most walk-up food kiosks. There's extensive training to go through to teach you the ins and outs of being a Disney Cast Member- lots of lessons on great customer service, as well as practical knowlege. Fun fact: nobody has officially died on Disney property. Probably-dead folks are transported via ambulance off-site where a coroner can pronounce them dead. I see you're from Wisconsin. Florida is HOT. And sticky. You're probably going to be working outside a lot, if not all the time. Be prepared. Disney does have housing available for certain employees, and they take your rent directly from your check, leaving you with enough money to get some Cheetos or something. Make sure you fill out the online application if you're interested. You can probably find one here. Anything else?
I worked there for 6 months last year on the college program so if you have any questions let me know.
I train a lot of students in musical theater that perform there and yes they pay shit minimum wage even for performers
If Mickey touches you inappropriately don't tell anyone, otherwise you'll never find work in town again.
No. I was there last year and my wife and I tried it with three different characters throughout the week. The only ones who even acknowledged that we said anything was the Army Men, one of whom looked at us, shrugged and shook his head like "who cares". There was also a group of kids who tried to say it to the Woody who just went about his business.
they used to but then people did it all the time and both the actors as well as the suits took a beating and nothing was getting done
Not exactly true. Only a board certified physician can legally pronounce an individual dead so it typically happens off-site when they're transported to a hospital where they might be declared deceased on arrival. But there have been occasions however where a physician has been on scene and has been able to make the declaration themselves. (I believe that one of the recent ride vehicle incidents was declared deceased on scene.) Even then you want to get it right, so they would at the very least wait to get an AED on the person. In some rare, gruesome cases (like the pilot that crashed a small plane in a parking lot) they can make that declaration on arrival. Coroners/medical examiners don't pronounce.
not true at all the guy that died on Thunder Mountain as Disneyland was decapitated, that's pretty dead, don't need confirmation for that. ALso the employee that died in the monorail disaster in Disney World was crushed to death instantly sadly there is footage of it on youtube
There's a difference between being "obviously dead" and "legally dead." Onto more lighthearted thoughts, what was it you wanted to know more about specifically, 003agentCIA?
If you LOATHE working Retail, Don't waste your time. You think shoppers are bad, they're nothing in comparison to 100,000+ Tourists from all over the globe.
