You're pretty articulate for an eleven year old. I'm impressed.

If you notice the dread that is laying on the ground after the impact you can see liquid energon coming from his mouth; I guess sort of a Transformers bloodied lip.

It appeared that IronHide attacked them while he shifted into Robot mode, perhaps cutting or striking them.

His name is Ironhide. They hit the ground because they had no idea hitting him was like hitting a stone wall. "Blood" was gushing from their mouths. They probably thought "Oh boy this chump ain't got nothing on us-OHGODWHY!?" Ironhide's probably had pillow fights more painful than any collision.

    :lol

Even though the way that these Dreads bite the dust in the movie is far cooler than the way they go out in the novel, I gotta' say, I would have loved to see that scene where the Dreads drive into Ironhide and get obliterated into millions of pieces, whilst Ironhide merely gets rocked back on his ankles and brushes the "dust" off his shoulder. That would've been so cool! :D  Really would have solidified Ironhide as the "immovable object".

Its futile trying to compare the collisions of both vehicles measured with their earthen counterparts' statistics and parameters. Ironhide and the Dreads might LOOK like earthen vehicles from the outside... I bet they are made from other stuff inside:- different mass, different weight, different ability to take a direct hit without hurting the so called "metal-like" frame/exterior of their alternate modes.

Ironhide had it planned out. The Dreads had no idea what was coming. They were probably shocked and thrown off-guard.

Yeah so "awzum" that whilst Sentinel Prime told everyone about his deal with Megatron he kept his back turned the whole time.

That is not a wise move for a combat expert.

Sentinel revealed that he was working with Megatron just before he shot Ironhide, so there was no time for Ironhide to react.

well, while the Dreads may have seen Ironhide coming towards them, that doesn't mean they knew he was going to ram into them, which could explain why they didn't land as gracefully.

Because Ironhide is the image of grace and agility.

I actually think the Dreads were caught off guard. If you think about it, they were chasing Mirage and Sideswipe. But all of a sudden, Ironhide appears in front of them and they didn't have time to brake. The moment they saw Ironhide, they knew they were going to collide, but they didn't have it in mind, so they weren't prepared. And you even see all the red energon (it's that or blood) spilling out of the Dreads, while Ironhide doesn't seem to have a scratch.

He had his back turned still. To a leader who is talking. He still said "we were never going to win the war" that in itself should have been enough to cause him to turn around and say "WTF".

True dat. Can't deny it. You made me lol.

    EDIT:

Now that I think about it again, I think we should consider the fact that Ironhide had just accepted the responsibility of guarding Sentinel (Lennox: Ironhide, protect Sentinel. Get him back to the base. Ironhide: Consider it done!). So, perhaps he kept his back turned because he was looking out for any incoming threats. Think of a bodyguard, their backs are facing the people they're protecting.

Far from wanting to invalidate the logical elaboration of the physics, this thread reminded me of this; 'The trick is... not minding that it hurts.'

The Trick Is ... - YouTube

The match trick, Lawrence of Arabia. ;)

PS: I went for something succinct; HD would have been alot clearer and alot longer, haha.

BluRay, weren't you the one that posted a shot of Ironhide getting shot through the chest by Sentinel, while still looking forward as if to say "nothing to see here"? I lol'd hard at that one, as well as the rage comic faces put over each character (Sentinel was "i lied" and 'Hide was "fuuuuuuuuuu-") in a similar image.
