    Hi,

I apologize if this is not the correct place to ask this question - please feel free to move if possible. I was noticing that my sales thread was not coming back when I searched on certain character names in the B/S/T forum. In particular "Rampage" which returned many threads that had the figure but seemed to leave mine out.

Is there a certain way that the board indexes threads in order to show up in searches? Or a reason it will include some but not another? I read OF's sticky at the top of this forum but I don't think most will go through the trouble of using google to find items.

Appreciate any feedback or insight! Thanks!

Can you link me to your thread and the exact term and settings of the search on the forum you are doing?

Sure Tony - here is the link to my thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/items...tfss-1-0-2-0-botcon-generations-rts-more.html

I was simply searching on the word "rampage" and tried with both a capital R and lower case R. I've had spotty results with other similar 1 word searches as well but this one stood out because I knew I had the figure listed but it didn't return in the results, so didn't know if it was something like the font or bullets that was affecting it or something else....

    Appreciate the reply!

OK, I did some checking. Looks like your BBCode formatting for font, color, size etc - is making it so the word isn't coming up in search.

I would suggest removing anything for font, color, size, and list bbcode from your posts, preview it, then save.

Do a search. Wait 2 hours, and then do that search again. See if it comes up.

There are "shared" search results here. If you do a search, the system saves the results. If someone does that same exact search within an hour, your original results are given to them instead of re-doing the whole thing. Problem is, if you edit or update your thread now, it won't show up for an hour if someone has already searched Rampage recently.

I think this is it, but not 100%. So try that, and let me know. I have to start prepping for Botcon, so can't dig into it any further till next week. Sorry about that. Feel free to bump this then tho if it's still broke.

    Later!

    Hey Tony -

Hope you had a good weekend at Botcon! Just wanted to follow up on this - I removed my list and font BBCode & did several searches over the weekend and my thread is still not showing up in the search results. Not sure if you have any other ideas on how the search mechanism indexes and pulls data in, and what might be preventing mine from showing up. Since my thread has been renamed a couple times do you think that could be contributing to it? Not really sure how these boards do their searches.

Hi guys - sorry to bump this again but curious if there was any additional info or other things to try? Not sure I completely understand the search mechanics still and removing formatting didn't seem to work. Thanks!

I just did a search for Rampage in the BST forums, and your thread is the first one to come up.

Is there something else not showing up for you?

    Hi Tony,

That is really weird - I just did a search on the word and it did not return my thread at all. How are you doing the search? I am using the drop-down "Search this Forum" box on the main thread screen where you can type in a single word or phrase.

Well I am completely baffled because it never comes back in my search at all. Could it be because you are an administrator you can see it whereas others can't? My search results never have it in there ....
