Sup everyone. Was wondering why the TFC Toys Predaking is so expensive. I was looking into purchasing one on ebay but i saw the prices range from $400 to $500. Has anyone purchased one of these big guys and is it worth it?
There's a whole thread dedicated to this guy in the 3P forum. The cost is fairly in line with most other 3P offerings. I have him and like elements of him and am disappointed in others. For the price TW Devy feels like a better deal.
Here is the link to the thread for TFC Ares: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...res-predaking-mega-thread.html?highlight=ares This set does not have favorable reviews. $400-$500 is way too much for this set. Personally, I feel the cost of this set should be similar to their Hercules/Uranos ($200-$250) on the secondary market right now in order to actually generate any buyers' interest
There's no way you should pay $400-$500 for Ares. You're bound to get people who will argue with this, but the consensus is that MMC's Feral Rex was the best of the 3P Predakings. Frankly, while the individual Predacons look like G1 toys with better articulation and there's a bit of partsforming, Unique Toys' Warlord looks better, is less floppy, and less likely to have something fall off than Ares and is probably the cheapest of the 3P Predakings, so that'd be my second choice with Ares coming in dead last. I'm kind of weird, though. I've got this weird drive to have all the 3P combiners (I'm working on my third 3P Devastator and my second Menasor), so Ares is actually still on my shopping list.
^ thats a pretty good summary of the three sets. Rex wins hands down. Ares looks the beefy brawler type, but its a crumbling waterfall of parts when handled. Took me weeks to figure out how to fix everything and its still not as much fun to mess with as Rex.
I bought and sold this set. Individually the robots and beast modes look great. When combined it all falls apart. Too heavy and can't stand. It can barely hold the weapons either. Never touching TFC again.
