Why wouldnt the Autobots go back to the moon and hide out in the ark? Its still there, right? Why risk themselves being hunted down and destroyed by humans by staying on earth? Not to mention the supplies available aboard the ark. Or is anything in a previous movie, completely off limits?

They can't leave Earth.The Xantium was destroyed,remember ?

 

well how are they going to get to spaceif they don't have a ship (xanthium is blown up' can't build one and can't steal one they are to small on earth. it would be easy to just send a missile after their launching spaceship. the moon is full of earth tech, they aren't hiding. there could still be Decepticons . none of the bots can fly. there are so many ways that could go wrong. plus they get lockdowns ship after they are hiding and optimus also gets his flight capabilities. so theirs no way to get there without revealing themselves

 

They don't need a ship to leave the planet. All they have to do is revert back to protoform and use their travel pods. It's how they arrived here in the first place.

 

It's how they arrived, but we have no idea if they can take off that way too. We don't know how they were launched here they just basically fell out of the sky. It seems like since TF1 they changed it to most TFs need a ship to space travel, with OPs knightly rocket boots being the exception

 

Thing is, we have no idea of what the context of them leaving Cybertron like that was. Maybe they needed something that was only available on Cybertron.

 

That's just it though, we don't know. Bay is all over the place when it comes to how they travel. My theory is: They can fly off planet in travel pod, however, they have very limited directional capabilities. Maybe they lock onto a signal and use it as directions to get from point a to point b. Whereas, on a ship, they have the ability to go wherever they choose to. Of course, if your name is Optimus Prime, you appearently pick your own mode of space travel  

 

They could have scanned a jet then fly away....like starscream did!

 

If you remember the scene in the KSI where Joshua was talking to Darcy, the screen near them shows that there are KSI's transformers on the moon scavaging for something. So it might not be a good idea going up their

 

I figured that was moreso like Attinger's ads saying what the future could hold for KSI regarding their Transformers, like all the 'expositional ads' that talk about Stinger and how old-school Bumblebee is.

 

I think since the first they've been pretty consistent we haven't seen any protoforms since then right? It's just one of those things like their weaponry that they didn't have totally figured out yet for the first one. Weren't there also more self generated weapons in the first one and now we have more hand held guns and such

 

Because the plot demands that the AUtobots remain on earth

 

you are a transformers fan, you make me wanna slap you in your face for your lack of knowledge. Explain to me how a robot with no flight capabilities can suddenly learn how to fly.

To be fair, Optimus had flight capabilities before. It's entirely possible his flight tech is just internalized now.

And he just decided t never mention it or use it before he got the sword and sheild.
