So I finally opened up MP Grimlock....and the electronics don't work. All this anticipation for nothing. So much for my first Masterpiece...back to TRU he goes. It seems like a few people on the Seibertron boards are complaining of electronics & loose-hip issues. Anyone else having this problem?
Mine is still sealed in the box and it has chipped chrome on one tooth, waiting for them to get into my local TRU so I can exchange it
Only problem I have with mine is that his chest doesn't seem to plug in all the way. Otherwise, he's pretty damn good.
This makes me feel a little better about buying the import. I do feel bad for anyone who doesn't 100% love this toy though. He might just be plastic, but I still remember getting him in the mail on my way to work and all my nerdy coworkers being jealous as I opened him. He is at home now - MP Prime (import too) is doing the work desk shift. I never bought the 'bad guy' MPs, but I will 100% be getting Rodimus from Japan as well. To those who got a bad Grimmy - I hope you get a new one, this is a really cool, special toy.

Mine is crap too. Electronics don't work, joints are floppy and he is missing a screw cover for his dino head.
Seeing this thread is making me a little glad I'm not buying him at the moment. He's very cool looking in the box. But If I dropped 76 with taxes, I'd expect him to be dang perfect.
i hate paying more, but takara MP figures are much better, non-nerfed, and seriously dont lack the QC issues of dare i say it- american junk. as long as this trend continues i will end up paying a premium, but also have it first.
Mine is absolutely fine. The glowing sward and gun effect is weak, but i dont really care about that. This figure is absolute win for me!
lol, this is the million dollar question. Don't worry, we won't laugh at you . I did the same thing with my Takara Grimlock because the slip is so tiny.
Mine is fine. My only complaint is that there isn't a way to turn the light on and leave it on without holding in the button (if there is I don't know about it), but that's not a QC issue.
Mine has some loose hip joints and the light up hand is a little loose, otherwise I'm absolutely in love with this figure. I wish I had a little masterpiece wheelie to ride on his back.
Don't remember any threads like this when Takara's was new. But who knows? My Takara one has no issues and is fantastic (except that the crown is way cooler than the bowtie apron thing that I've used once).
Nope...... the Masterpiece QC thread is around here somewhere.... The only REAL problem I have with a Takara MP Transformer is TC, because it has the reverse boobs problem .
There's also the stressing/cracking of the two plastic joints on the top of the jet mode. Generally TakaraTOMY does have QC issues as well over certain items, it's just less prevalent because far less people import.
