There's a lot more to G1 than just the cartoon.
I dunno about them, but for me that was my primary source for G1.
I barely read any of the comics.
And I always thought Bombshell was the leader.
Do we know if this Menasor will be on par with Predaking size wise or more like combiner wars?
I know Predaking got a lot of flack for those thigh attachments to the legs but maybe they could do something similar with hotspot, except have it with Hotspot vs the legs.
Maybe they don't do the others for a while and the only reason Menasor is happening is because Motormaster has a few potential retool options (PMOP, Armada Prime)
The leakers knew Motormaster and Menasor are coming but haven't seen actual figures or prototypes of them as far as I know. We do know that Motormaster is the Commander for Legacy so we are speculating that since he is not a big bot by himself like Jetfire and Skylynx it will be a Rodimus Prime situation where the cab will form Motormaster by himself and the trailer will become the skeleton for Menasor. As for the height, definitely don't expect a Titan sized combiner. I am picturing he will be close to Siege Jetfire and HasLab Victory Saber in height based on the commander class budget allowing him to be bigger than the CW combiners but still having better joints. We probably won't see an official reveal of Menasor for a year I'd say as Legacy seems to be starting pretty late next year and the commanders don't come out until Wave 3 each line.
If Hasbro is going for relative scale accuracy in WFC and post Generations lines, then I suspect Menasor will be more or less be about as big as his toon counterpart.
I can see PMOP being retooled if they somehow give him full limbs without upping the budget/price or a Takara Gen Selects Super Ginrai to allow some major retooling at an increased price. Armada Prime doesn't work in my opinion as none of his modes are similar in design.
They have been focusing on bot mode scale though, you can't have every mode scale due to the mass shifting nature of G1. Look at the MPG Raiden that is coming out. The individual bots are MP scale but the combiner is barely taller than MP Ultra Magnus. Another example is that CW Devastator is close to being in WfC scale based on the cartoon but the individual bots are too big compared to the other figures. All of the CW Constructicons are big Voyagers which is why the combined mode is so big.
Yes but isn't Takara alone making MPG Raiden? Maybe in Raiden's case he's an outlier.
I'll be satisfied if they are CW scaled, and that Menasor has a better torso then what we got in Combiner Wars. I am wondering if they do what 3p has been doing with using the cab and half the trailer for MM and the rest is a combiner skeleton. It just seems to be the smartest thing to do to get a 'toon accurate Motormaster.
Yup. My assumption is that HasTak will stick to individual robot mode scale and the combined mode will be compromised. So Motormaster should pair nicely with Siege/ER Optimus or Megatron. The rest of the Stunticons will be standard robot mode heights comparable to your carbots.
I’m hoping Menasor is at least as tall as Jetfire but i think it’d be impossible for him to be taller. We’ll see. There’s always a compromise. The cartoon gave everyone impossible expectations on character heights. And ultimately HasTak has to pick what they’ll focus on. I’m guessing it’ll be individual bot modes and the combiner height will be whatever they can achieve with that limitation.
I love how WFC made all the figures look visually cohesive because of uniformity in scale/size. I don’t imagine Hasbro breaking that going forward. If they did, they risk some of us dropping off and retiring from the collecting biz.
Not really an outlier as both the MPs and WfC lines have opted for bot scale, otherwise Astrotrain would have to be a Titan as his train mode could hold all of the Decepticons, and so would Skylynx as a space shuttle would be massive to be in alt mode scale. Plus we know that the Stunticons are Deluxe figures for sure due to the listings and Dragstrip officially being revealed and they would need to be at least Voyagers with Motormaster somewhere commander and Titan by himself to make Menasor on par with Devastator.
Most likely this route but will probably just have Motormaster just be the cab like they did with Rodimus Prime. Motormaster isn’t too big and give him less bells and whistles compared to Rodimus so most of the budget goes to the trailer/combiner skeleton. Maybe throw in a base mode like the G1 toy like they did with Rodimus too.
It's possible, but the question is how much they'd have to give up in terms of filling out the combined mode. Or perhaps they hollow out Motormaster and invest the remaining budget in to bulking up his "powered-up" Menasor form.
Because, trust me, the whole goal of this is to be able to sell Motormaster as a standalone. You have the truck, the cab/trailer (with a likely base mode) and the super robot (cab + trailer) the limbs being able to combine with it will be a bonus.
I only say that part of the trailer would have to be used for the body because traditionally his feet is just the cab. I can see the possibility of using fake parts to recreate the cab as feet. That would require a bit of panel work to cover up the real cab.
I’m really curious to see which direction Hasbro goes but I think you’re right that it’ll likely be Motormaster as a complete package and Menasor is just a bonus with compromises. We already saw a deluxe Dragstrip, so we can assume Menasor won’t be huge too.
Motormaster forming from just the semi-truck portion will work fine. The trailer will, my guess is, split apart and form the combiner limbs. Then you just slap on the deluxe cars and you got Menasor.
It won’t have the traditional scramble city design but it’ll look much better. I’m also wondering if WFC Ultra Magnus and GUOP are previews of what to expect. I really dig how solid those figures are in armored up modes. Menasor is basically armored up Motormaster.
Dem der fite in werds!
If it's going to partsform, then let it be the best possible partsformer that ever partsformed. I grew up with G1. I understand that the insanity that is my love for these toys can't be 'all in one" sometimes. We did tried scramble city in CW/UW. Most of them were a floppy mess, and/ or Silver Bolt.
