I called sony and they want to charge me 90 plus shipping to replace it with a re manufactured psp. I'm thinking about just voiding my "warranty" and replacing the screen myself. Screens are only 40 shipped on ebay and it seems rather easy. Does anyone have any tips for when I do replace the screen? I consider myself "handy" but am some what intimidated by the job. Thanks in advance for any advice!!

it looks pretty easy, isn't it just a couple of screws?

Looks as simple to replace as can be - disassemble the PSP, unplug old screen, plug in new screen, reassemble.

just know that you WILL get dust trapped between the screen and faceplate of your PSP when you go to close it up, and it will likely frustrate the hell out of you.

Are you sure it's the screen? Could it just be the faceplate?
