You’d think somebody would after years of knowing about this. I don’t know why not even any shapeway folks are making replacement designs. I’d buy in an instant

Aerialbot fins (& nosecones) checked, they are okay thus far (but bear in mind I am in the UK which is in a temperate zone).

My Darkwing's tailfins have cross-pollinated, but only on one side. Am posing him with them separated for now, will try coating the surfaces with something and see if that helps.

Something I noticed with my new SS Exo Suit Spike figure, the blast effects it came with weren't made of the same soft plastic thats been giving everyone issues since they came out, the plastic on these were just as hard as the actual figure. I don't think it'd have anything to do with cost as the effects pieces that came with the battle master ER figs were the same size. Though it seems like the blast effects may as well be retired with not being the "gimmick" of new lines, I wonder if this is a sign of how they might be in the future

I think children's toy safety legislation will put paid to any effect parts bigger than SS86 Spike's blasts getting done in a similar fashion/equally solid material.

Rubber band aren't even close to being the worst of it from bionicle and can be fixed with any small rubber bands.
The Inika rubber masks, and piraka rubbery faces/spines (which are is 70% figures) will eventually crumble.
Large amounts 2007 Ehlek and Hahli and Lesovikk had fragile lime joints because of not being cooled off correctly and Ehlek's spine
are rubbery. That 13 figure with crumbling rubber Ehlek (are his entire back-section on the green barraki figure) Inika and piraka also
have batteries in them but the piraka villains battery for their eyes can't be removed. Battery acid is dangerous.

Any soft plastic that will be in contact with painted surfaces should be given a thin brushing of clear coat. This will act as a barrier between unreacted plasticizer and your paint/ other plastic surfaces.

Heat and light (inputted energy) will accelerate the leaching out of the plasticizer, but no matter the storage conditions, it will happen eventually. So, best to protect the parts.

I don't want to derail this from a TF conversation, but are people finding that soft plastics from other toylines are having these types of issues? I'm thinking about the accessories from things like MOTU or Star Wars black. Are they going to leech the paint or melt plastic if they are stored on top of other figures?

SHF Sailor Moon’s instructions recommend owners to not place the moon stick on her hands for long periods of time due to something among the lines of paint transfer or something like that since the holding hands are molded in slightly softer plastic (not as soft as blast effects, but you get the idea). So yes, I think that toy companies are well aware of this issue.

Melting, misshapen, hard plastic feeling softer and more pliable, rubber is sticky to the touch, and it's also damaged some figure and the paint on figures it was beside in the storage box, including practically glueing itself against the plastic storage box itself

You can see how the pegs and exle sections beside the rubber are looking melted, those same parts also feel soft and gummy to the touch now, like window sealant in texture

I accidentally left my kingdom tracks laying face down on a rubber band and it left a gross looking gash in his knee. I don't think any plastic melted because of the paint

I have heard that as well, but I just noticed that both Earthrise Voyager Starscream and Legacy Voyager Armada Starscream seem to have solid ABS nose cones. Maybe it only applies to toys of a certain size or mass?

Hardness of the PVC used matters. The more soft it is, the more plasticizer was used in its creation, generally. Check out the CW jets next time you can. They have softer nosecones, but they are hard in relation to the pieces that have been a problem on these toys.

My HFTD Banzaitron has stolen some red paint on one of his treads from a presently unclear source. Pretty scary that these problematic figures have to be contained separately while in storage.
