Just discovered this Thread; then looked at my Banzaitron. Basically anywhere the rubber touched, melted. this one spot was the worst, while the others, looked more like flack scraps.

This sucks, but it's not load bearing on Banzaitron so the figure will survive.

I'm more concerned with how Dangerous is this to handle, the plastic melted, is it still melting; it felt dry. I'm going to place him in a Plastic Storage bag before putting him back in the Plastic Bin, Even though the Rubber Melts Plastic.

It's just plasticizer migration. It's dry because it's a slow reaction. As far as I understand, this is no different from the oily stuff that leaks out of rubbery toys. Not really harmful, just annoying.

My Demolishor has been on display for years. The top wheel has been resting on the head and a huge chunk of the horns have been melted away...

    SO...serious new inquiry here.
By all accounts every Banzitron/Bludgeon and ROTF Demolishor are affected.
those who say otherwise I'm not quite sure are looking hard enough or just aren't worried about it.

HOWEVER...I have a new concern. So far I have only ever heard of ONE report of DOTM shockwave being affected and even then...i'm not convinced.
I've gone through 3 copies of that figure and have never seen those effects. (unlike my bludgeon and demolishor) I really don't think that figure is affected.

BUT...Studio series shockwave DOES have me worried. Would anyone have any real insight to that material? it feels completely different to those other three
figures but now I'm paranoid. He's such a good figure I really don't want that to happen. same concern with the new sound wave as well. (soft plastic head and hands)
    any theories?

I'm in the same boat. We have no real way of knowing. I could see about staging a test once I have one. SS DOTM Megatron's reacted very fast, so he may display signs quickly. Maybe setting something painted in a non-important region for a while would be a good test.

I went so far as to take my ROTF Bludgeon and BotCon Gigatron shoulder assemblies apart a few months ago and saw no signs of the issue on either. Since then, I’ve checked them both weekly, not disassembling mind you, but just a visual inspection for any signs. They both remain unaffected as far as I can see.

I have six versions of this mold. Two original versions, one movie the best, one street side brawl version and two of the cyber metal versions. None of them are exhibiting any issues. For what it is worth the hose in the cyber metal version is made of different material I think, since it’s translucent pink.

I have several extra sets of ROTF Demolishor treads if anyone would like to have them for testing.

I just checked my Bludgeon (he's been in storage for a few years). He showed a few spots three years or so ago (was minimal) when this was first discovered. I had placed a paper towel between the treads and the rest of him hoping it would stop any further damage. It did indeed work and he shows no signs of further deterioration. Not sure where My ROTF SW is right now but he was fine still this time last year and my CW and Armada Megatron show no signs of any issue (knock on wood).

Just checked Transmetal 2 Dinobot. That tail is a soft rubbery plastic...so far it's totally fine. Has anyone had a problem with that figure?

I'm looking at Titans Return Mindwipe with some worry. I REALLY like that figure.

From what I understand, Beast Wars stuff is unaffected. I'm with you on worrying about Mindwipe...But we can only hope and keep watch.

I have not seen an issue with him yet. It's actually pretty rigid, despite being bendy. I am starting to think that the super rubbery plastic we see on pieces like DOTM Megatron are predisposed to degrade quicker. Makes sense to me that the softer the plastic, the quicker it will leak. There is more plasticizer in it, so maybe it migrates quicker?

Has there been any confirmation this is more than a couple figures? The OP says *some* figures and now everyone is coming and listing everything that has any amount of rubber.
