Ah... for us in Australia, Amazon America only lets us buy about half of the Transformers they sell, and often random ones from the same assortment as ones we can't buy... so it wasn't anything unusual to us for Amazon Japan to be the same, so I didn't think to mention it. But for those in North America, it would probably be unusual to be shopping from an Amazon website and be told that multiple items are not available to your location.

Do they do the same as Amazon US and charge you customs fees up front for EU residents ?

    Yes.
I've bought from amazon US before and paid the importation fees at checkout.
    I'm UK Based.
If the calculation is wrong, Amazon will refund you the difference. In reality, they are only usually £1 or £2 out at most.

Amazon US, UK and Japan usually support international shipping on popular products.

    For a UW set:

    Order Summary
    Items: USD 78.52
    Shipping & Handling: USD 45.47
    Order Total: USD 123.99

Ugh! I can't find another shipping method either.

I'm on my phone, so maybe Amazon Japan looks different to me, but I'm finding the kanji impenetrable and can't search. Is there maybe a portal in English that I'm not aware of?

yes they do. i'm from italy and tried to preorder a legends ginrai.
at checkout with shipping and custom fees it went to a grand total of over 90 €.
So i don't think it's so cheap for us europeans slammed with customs.
no thanks, i'll stick with AE, NY and Tony.

It may be a high shipping charge, but that's still cheaper shipped than any US-based company (BBTS, TFSource, etc.). I am definitely getting excited about this.

I wonder how it would work if you had a defective/damaged item. I know Amazon US is really good about that, but with Amazon JP being half-way around the world...

Okay I just placed an order... I'm going to assume it's like Amazon.com and I won't be charged for preorders until they hit.. I have a mix of things in stock and preorders.

You sir, are a godsend :)

I've been buying CDs and books from Amazon Japan for several years and have always wished they would ship figures as well. I'm so happy they're finally doing it!! I absolutely love their shipping speed...I swear I get things faster from Amazon Japan than Amazon U.S. and the fees aren't bad at all.

Thanks so much for passing this news along. It is a definite game changer!

I caved and ordered UW Bruticus. It was slightly cheaper but this will be my test of how the shipping goes. Oh and I had to have Shuttle Blast off eventually.

Do the morons at Amazon Japan, pack like the morons at Amazon USA?

If they do it won't be worth the effort......

Hmmmmm......I think they taped it to a cardboard piece that was as wide as the bottom of the box. Don't know if they will do that for international package though

I've had quite a few "prize" packaging jobs from Amazon.....

Like as in 1/3 of something that wasn't flat to begin with now is......

    That's my major fear.

Ime, Amazon-jp uses a different shipping and delivery companies than Amazon-us.

Used to be strictly DHL the last time I ordered, but not sure what they use anymore these days.
