Amazon Japan is now letting you ship directly to overseas addresses, and the price after shipping is much lower than any of the Japanese etailers...period. I just ordered MP-33 Inferno for 110 dollars shipped. Use a Zero FT card to avoid currency conversion fees.

This could be a huge game changer...Sites like HLJ, A-E and Robot Kingdom that make their money by charging huge shipping and handling costs may take a big hit...

no i just shipped to my US address and billing address was same as the shipping address. Also price went down when I entered my US address.

thanks for the tip. I just pre ordered MPs 32,33,34,&35 and LG35 this way. As a US resident I am saving at minimum $10 compared to any other import site. Definitely a game-changer for me.

Weird question, but does having a US Prime account do anything in this case? Will Prime eligible things get me free shipping or something, or does that only apply to JP residents? Clearly an item won't arrive overseas in two days, but I'm curious if I'll be able to save any shipping with my prime account.

 

Nope prime does nothing, it's the same whether you are prime or not

 

It seems a pretty new service, I only noticed it less than 2 months ago.

It's hit and miss. I found some things were cheaper through normal e-tailers than Amazon, but other things like Super Ginrai will be less through Amazon. You probably won't be able to use Amazon as the only avenue for buying.

And skip Fort Max. It's like $140 shipping on top of the same cost as paying some of the importers.

 

Also another note/warning about using Amazon, you need to watch the exchange rates closely. You can easily go from a good deal to a bad one depending on the Yen.

 

Hmmm...interested to see how fast their shipping really is. Looks like Primal and Inferno will be about $10 cheaper than HLJ. Might give it a test run with Primal. However, not all items are included, looks like most Transformers are, but most Bandai stuff is not. Private Warehouse at HLJ could still wind up being cheaper if you're shipping a handful of items by different companies, but for single Transformer items, Amazon looks to be a better deal.
