Look I'm all for the right of free speach and the right to protest but this is too much, these people are Ghouls, creature that feed on the dead.

I don't care what your politics are, people who would do this kind of thing are all from the A-hole party as far as I'm concerned.

Free speech gives them the right to as long as they're not breaking laws (which they aren't).

You don't agree with them, but they've got just as much a right to speak their mind as you do within the context of the law.

but it's in such poor taste to do so. Freedom of speach shouldn't be an excuse to make a fool of yourself

Those protesters are scum with no class. Sure, they can say what they want, but the way they go about saying it is absolutely deplorable. They deserve nothing but contempt.

To you, it's in poor taste.

    To them, it's not.

Unfortunately, there's no real standard on it.

Why does it seem like you're defending them? Certainly you can't agree with their bullshit tactics.

I'm defending the ability to practice free speech within the rights granted to all Americans.

I don't agree with the Westboro Baptists one bit. Fred Phelps and a few of his cronies came to my school a few years ago and I attended to see what he had to say, just to see it for myself. As twisted as their views are, and as inappropriate I may find them, they have every right to say it and as long as they're not breaking any laws, then there's not much I can do to stop them.

Just to be clear on this...not all Christians are like that.

    They definitely don't represent me.

Oh I completely agree, but I find common sense would tell someone that this type of behavior isn't right (while I'm aware I'm not one to tell someone right from wrong; this type of act clearly seems "wrong").
I'm not saying anyone can or can't be a homophobe or racist, or anything else they want to be in life. But I think we should all have some respect shown when we pass on; it's a shame some people lack this thought.

That is unbelievably offensive and cruel to those who are mourning.

They should come down here to the "Good ol South" and try those stunts. I don't think a lot of people would be very happy with a demonstration during the middle of their loved ones funeral and I'm sure that a certain freedom of expression may be used.

    Ditto.

I can't see any baptists with sense condoning such behavior.

They left out the part of all the Biker clubs showing up at the past funerals these jackasses protested blocking them with their bodies and made their voices unheard with reving their bikes. Kicked their collective asses. Those people are scum.

While I'm all for the right for free speech, there's should also be respect for the dead. Or rather, respect for the mourning living.

In my personal opinion, I think that the protestors should be allowed to do their thing, but in a way that does not disrupt the funeral process. If that means 500 yards, or whatever then so be it.

How can any right minded Christian say, "God hates fags"? The Bible clearly lays out God loves the sinner but hates the sin. I'm really disapointed in my brothern.
