Basically all the attendee sets that botcon 2009 sold we had seen pre-release pictures of...except the sweeps set.... I am wondering of they maybe used a different factory to have that set made since none popped up for sale outside the convention ahead of time like all the other attendee sets... I have gotten two loose sweeps off ebay for my little botcon/universe/classics collection.... I think the sweeps are awesome...the set of blue is perfect for the mold IMO...
Yeah, that was well kept under wraps by FP. I got the 5-figure box set courtesy of a very cool fellow board member that went to Botcon but was not exactly fond of the boxset. But I had no idea about the sweeps until it was too late. Man I would've loved to get my hands on that sweeps set too!!
yeah i got my two off two different BIN auctions where the seller split the three pack up and sold them one unit at a time...would like to get the third but two will suffice with the noisemaze and two universe ratbats....
What I love most on the Sweeps are their bios. They're more than just clones with a generic bio - they are three separate characters, each with their own story, function, and abilities. That is a nice touch that went a long way to selling me on keeping all three as a set and not selling off one.
That was a really cool touch. If they had done that with the Virulent Clones in 2005, people might actually be interested in them. I'm wondering if the reason we didn't see them on ebay was because it was a straight repaint of Scourge? Still I would have thought someone would have posted it as a variant, like they did with Flak with the different head.
the only thing i can see is they had a different source manufacture and make these TF's....Because like i said in the first post...this is the only attendee set that did not get get displayed in pictures before the con like all the other attendee sets....
I settled on buying a single off eBay, decided I didn't need to troop-build for that price. Though one fellow that had the set broken up to sell did the photos such that the bio cards were almost completely readable, so I totally saved those images.
