Option 1: Release Sweeps as identical to Scourge. The complaint will be, "They're just repackaging the same toy under a different name! Rip off!"
Option 2: Release Sweeps as slight remolds or redecos of Scourge. The complaint becomes, "It's not animation accurate!" (But at least you're getting something different and have options.)

Like... what is the option people would like them to embrace here?   Unless you're a completionist MISB collector who just wants the same identical figure but also wants the different name on the box. Then I can see it I guess. But otherwise, they have to justify calling it a Sweep somehow when Scourge already exists. Or just do another run of Scourge I suppose.

 

Any chance of Cyclonus armada repaints or slight redecos coming down the pike? Hasbro loves to double dip on popular molds!!

 

yeah, thats my point. If the '86 line is movie accurate line, then all you need to do is buy more scourges? A sweep that wasn't an exact clone is not a sweep at that point, as you said.

 

Hmm not sure if repaints are ripoffs to me. I make that choice to purchase, however I don't see why release it under the '86 line if it is the movie accurate line since Scourge and Sweeps are the same. Seems dumb.

 

Studio series in general has had it's fair share of deviations from movie designs, the 86 subline is no different

 

This one seems like a slam-dunk just for releasing "Armada" in toy colors.

 

Of course, the question on everybody's mind is...how is Hasbro going to handle Wreck-Gar's blaster nipples on a modern toy?

 

Hasbro would make a killing if these new figures came with 3 different swapable heads just like they do with the Marvel Legends line.  A lot of collectors will like to army build them.  The only way Hasbro would mess this up is if they only put one figure per wave.

I'm going to guess that each Sweep figure will have unique hand gestures, at the very least, to differentiate between them.

Jeez alright, I was being a bit flip with my language, it's not technically a scam if you go by the dictionary. Maybe "Waste of a perfectly good Voyager slot" works better for you.

They aren't to me either. (Ripoffs.) I'm just saying they're kind of damned if they do and damned if they don't given those two scenarios. As for why it's releasing in this line, probably because it's a mold developed for this line specifically. Not sure where it would fit in elsewhere. So given the choice between not having sweeps, and releasing sweeps that are based on the Scourge mold but at least differ in some way shape or form, I figure they chose the latter.

Mind you I don't have a dog in the fight, I'm not getting Scourge or the Sweeps personally lol. Just Kup and Wreck-Gar. But I'm not sure what else they could have done here other than just not have Sweeps at all. In which case people would just buy more Scourges. Necessitating another run of Scourges. So since the mold is being used extensively anyway, why not?

 

I was hoping the Sweeps would be a triple pack, tbh, like the Siege Rainmakers.
