So my Xbox had an E74 error a couple of weeks back, and today I got it back... or so I thought. It turns out my Xbox must have died a spectacular death, Microsoft have sent me a brand new Xbox...

    Which leads to my problem.

All my old XBL material, all the game add ons don't work properly. If I'm logged in XBOX Live with my gamertag there is no problem, it knows its me and all the games are unlocked.

However, if I sign out or use another profile all the XBL games are trial versions. It used to be on my old Xbox360 that any profile could work with any XBL game that I had paid for.

Some game content also didn't work properly, SF4 costume packs didn't work.

Anyway, I've done what the Microsoft site suggested, and gone to my download history and redownloaded EVERYTHING. This took a while and I assumed that this would update my licence agreements or update my serial number registry, but the same problem persists.

The problem is if there is any problem with XBOXLive or my internet, all the XBL games and content WON'T WORK. How can I fix this? Cuz its annoying me.

    Help please?

This is the bitch about having boxes die all the time (I'm on #5), that you lose the "rights" every time the HD is attached to a different console. Everything is tied from your system to the HD.

They put out some digital rights tool or something like that on their site, where you can transfer the rights to all your games to a single console, but the problem with it is that you can only use it once every 12 months. I've been too paranoid to try it, because i'd be pretty pissed if I used my one transfer and the 360 shit the bed a week later.

I love my Xbox and everything, but they're just ticking timebombs, no matter how good you take care of them.

EDIT: Here is the link for it, although it says "that if you received your new Xbox 360 as the result of a refurbishment or repair, the licenses have already been transferred as part of the repair process", which definately hasn't been true in my past. Doesn't say anything about it being once a year, either, so hopefully they changed that.

Yeah, they say they've transferred the licence, but I redownloaded EVERYTHING which took half an hour or so, but nothings changed, the licences still haven't updated.

I'll restart the console later and see if thats what it needed (have you tried turning it off and on again?) but I suspect I'll be contacting their customer support tomorrow.

    Arses.
