Perhaps there was a factory screw up and the headless ones were sent to the US by accident. Still, we're getting the figure finally, can't complain too much.
Uh, what? The "you'll want two" thing was in reference to the Cybertron version, amigo. Made at BotCon 2005, IIRC. Also IIRC, it was made by Aaron Archer. I don't think "first" was ever stated. It was stated as "limited quantities", if I recall the wording, and the casepack we heard confirmed for that arrangement was 1/1 with and without for the first waves, after which all would be headless.
Possible. Although IIRC, the 'No head' version has a different product number from the 'With head' version. Perhaps the with head version is going to selected retailers.....
Well the first sightings with the head (outside of Hong Kong) were in Australia, and last I checked, he was a K-Mart exclusive there*. Perhaps that's the head deal? *= felt a need to clarify.
Hmmm. The "head" version also doesn't have any assortment number, whereas the "no head" version does. (although his assortment number is different from Starscream's)

I remember where it's from, but I remember they were hyping the mystery bonus piece as a reason to get the Hasbro version in addition to the Takara version, since everyone loves the GF box so much. I can't see the head as a reason to get 2 Hasbro versions, especially since the head is (was?) supposed to be with the first run. If that went as planned, who would bother buying a second, headless version? I tried to find the Botcon 05 report to check but couldn't.
Having checked BBTS - the no head version says June, but the 'with head' version says 'Early July' So, it's one possible, albeit partial, explanation.....

Yep, they were on the bottom shelf with the rest of the Transformers. I just called to double check. I gave the person on the phone the DPCI and she said they do still show them in stock. Hmm
