Anyone here watch this show? Primeval - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I really liked it because it reminds me of Jurassic Park-with guns, but recently with the new season they've killed off or got rid of so many of the original characters that it just doesn't even feel like the same damn show anymore, and the ratings have shown it's hurt them. But the creatures are cool and the special effects are surprisingly good. My favorite creatures are the Velociraptor and the Giganotosaurus (and boy, did the British actors BUTCHER that name!).
As long as they don't kill off Hannah Spearritt, I'll keep watching. Though I think killing off Cutter, while very ballsy, was a mistake.
Oh lawdy, that show was awful. Spoiler Only bit I liked was the last episode of the first season, when they realised that they were the corpses. Other than that? Poorly written drivel.
Fun show to watch, but when they got rid of Cutter it really felt different. This season's finale was pretty funny.
I agree. Especially since they revealed that the only character that MIGHT come back from the dead is Captain Tom Ryan. I guess Helen's statement that no one ever truly dies was bullshit. Thanks writers! And yeah, Cutter's death really pissed me off. What a crock of shit. I mean really, now what the hell are they gonna do? He seemed like the only thing keeping that whole team together. And Steven? Hell, Cutter and Steven should have just put Helen in the room full of creatures and screwed. So what if the creatures escape from the facility, at least they can hunt them down again and Helen will be out of the picture for good. BUT NO, a few episodes later Cutter just HAD to go back into the burning headquarters to find Helen and get shot by her. The hell man? It seems like every time someone dies on this show it is because they just narrowly escaped certain death, only to then make their own decision to go back into the dangerous situation and get killed. Dumb asses. I hope that IF this series ends, they just go back in time to before everything went to hell and tell their past selves everything to know so they don't screw up and get everyone killed, fired, or trapped in the past.
I thought they killed Cutter off since the actor wanted to leave the show? I do agree though, he was the most interesting character, and when he left, it left a void that Danny could not fill and Connor could not step into. Danny is a good character on his own, but Cutter was a lot more interesting, since he brought that scientist view for things. I heard they went over budget for the last couple of eps, and next season hasn't been given a green light yet. Anyone hear anything else? There are also rumors of a movie and a US version of the show. If they did a US version, it would be interesting if it took place in the same universe as this original one. Since anomalies aren't just restricted to the UK, so having a team in the US works easily, and could make some great cross over episodes. By the way, I don't mind the new characters, especially Sarah Page.
Danny is a great character too, but I feel instead of being the new team leader, he should just always pop in and out of episodes like he originally did in the Giganotosaurus one. To me, he seems more like the comic relief/hot shot guy who uses crazy unorthodox methods to get the job done. I'd also think he would be better if he just showed up randomly when the team is out and about like a "why the heck do these things keep happening around me!?!?" type of guy. Cutter always seemed like the backbone of the team that was essential to have. Without him they are a disorganized mess. Hell, even Steven seemed like a second Cutter. With them both gone I have little hope the the new team's future. In a sense, Danny reminds me of Hot Rod and then with becoming the new leader, Rodimus Prime. While Cutter reminds me of Optimus Prime, even more so when he dies and the hot shot/inexperienced Danny takes his place. And Steven reminds me of Ironhide, always one with the attitude, fighting skills, and weaponry to back it up. And just from that comparison, I know where I stand. Sure I like Rodimus Prime, (and I like his toys), but he's "Not-Optimus" to me. Same can be said for Danny. I like his character, but he can't replace Cutter. I will now refer to him as "Not-Cutter." And as for Steven's replacement, Captain Becker, well that new soldier guy just doesn't cut it either, at least not yet. He seems more like "I'll just stand here and shoot my gun" unlike Steven who would actually hunt down the creatures and drop their asses.
Cool premise, but I just cannot get into the show's drama at all (and I have a few hundred dollars worth of dinos on my desk at work).
One of the shows biggest issues? It's central cast contained a stereotypical nerd, a 'badass' lab technician and a hot herpetologist. Oh, and a snarky government agent who the writer's clearly thought was more witty than he really was. I'm supposed to relate to these characters, how?
you guys talking about season 3 or just the first two seasons? myself, i liked season 1 but season 2 left me thinking "the hell" , and then if they work on season 3 i think i will be punching myself in the nuts to dull the unwanted pain involved in the anomaly cloning people.
Don't watch the show myself (my mother is a huge fan though) but wasn't there a whisper that it wasn't coming back after this current season because it was too costly to keep making?
Probably the same way you're suppose to relate to an immortal alien Timelord, a twenty something working-class hot female, and a time-traveling bisexual conman from the 51st century.
Aaaand it's been canceled... One hell of a way to announce it. Their official website just has a tiny little Twitter post confirming what the BBC said.
Well I'm not surprised. See this is just like when everyone died in Transformers: The Movie, except they didn't get revived. That should teach the BBC for killing off the 2 main team leaders. Fools. The 3rd season's ratings only foreshadowed further bad results from that decision.
Hoorah! I feel fuzzy inside. I'm not. That's the point. Because she looks and sounds working class, and she acts like a normal person. Why do you think Torchwood is so rubbish?
i wonder when season 3 will come out on dvd here in Australia, i hate not finishing off series. though the way they where going, series 4 would be hard unless they tampered with an anomaly and some how brought back different versions of the same characters that died in season 3.
Actually, its not BBC's fault for killing Nick Cutter off. The actor himself wanted to leave the show. He pretty much had enough of a run, and even asked them to make sure his character wouldn't be able to come back. Sucks about the show being canceled. The news article said the team still plans for the series to continue in some way. Wonder if the rumored movie could still happen, or even a US version. Spoiler If season 4 happened, I'd rather them not bring Helen back. The other three lost in time would be easy to fix and bring back to the current time line. Nick Cutter will never show up again, as I said above, unless the actor wants back.
