After bringing my ROTF leader Prime downstairs and examining it, transforming it, etc., I really don't think it would be possible to make an all-new leader Prime for TF3. This figure is just far too damn superb. But what do you guys think? I think that, at the very least, we'll get a re-release of ROTF leader Prime but with his trailer. Nobody knows what purpose the trailer serves in the movie yet but, I'm thinking/hoping it becomes a new set of body armor. If not, hopefully it unleashes a transforming Roller (not confirmed to be in the movie but with the trailer and all, it's probably a given).

 

I think they can do better. Not to say ROTFs was bad, I just think they can apply the amount of innovation they showed between movies 1 & 2, to the figures between 2 & 3.

 

If a new mold TF3 Prime had the same jump in quality that the TF2 toy had over the TF1 one then  
But I'm thinking re-release or re-mold. If they do maybe Hasbro will sweeten the deal by packaging him with his trailer(supreme class Apex armour Prime?).

 

My brain can not physically comprehend an all new Prime toy that is an improvement (engineering-wise) over the ROTF Prime in terms of accuracy in both modes. I would shut down mentally and physically if I saw it.

UNLESS he has actual changes to his body, which may simply be proportions or very slight detail changes since, well, his truck mode looks the same. But unless it's drastic, I also expect a redeco.

 

Prime and Bumblebee are suppose to have new looks in TF3, so their figures will be new designs.

 

I think you are forgetting Prime's trailer  

 

My friends and I were talking about this when we first saw the trailer, and one of them said "this is Hasbro's chance to charge $80 for a Leader class figure"

So yeah, expect a new mold for the truck and most likely an all new gimmick for the trailer (combining?)

 

Most certainly. They said they made changes to his character model to make him more heroic anyway so those changes will need to be captured for the toy. Now that I think of it, almost everyone is going to get new toys: Bumblebee, Ratchet, Sideswipe, and the Twins all have new vehicle decos.

I am personally thinking that we'll get a Voyager or even Ultra Class Prime, with the trailer as well. Assuming the trailer does something in the Movie of course.

Odds are, we might see a Supreme Class release for Optimus Prime this go around. I doubt Hasbro would go all the way up into the $80 - $100 range, but I could easily see a $60 Optimus Prime with all the extras and a Voyager redeco of the Battle Blades version at the same time.

Alternatively, as we never got the Buster Optimus Prime, there's a chance that we just might see him released as the Leader Class toy.

 

I may be way off base here, but I think Hasbro and TakaraTomy will be bringing us a Prime that combines with his trailer in the next couple years. They were playing with the idea in Animated (see AllSpark Almanac II).
Many designs that were canceled have gone on to influence future toys - all the Transtech protos, for example.
To be brief: Yes, we will get a new mold for Optimus Prime in TF3.

i see all the battle blade molds being repaints or rereleased. but i see a new seeker mold in voyager size that really related to the leader mold similar to the battle blade molds.

 

i like the voyager prime with trailer idea.  

THAT or a new mold. optimus prime should get a new mold, i mean there is always room for improvement, in even the most perfect of all transformers.  

 

The Voyager Battle Blades Prime - being a huge improvement than the other Voyager Prime - will almost certainly be back for the TF3 line.

IF the trailer does something like a super mode for Prime, expect a toy for it. Maybe a retooling of ROTF Leader Prime, compatible for combining with the trailer thing. IF it does something special.

 

All new or GTFO.

Honestly, the Ferrari has to be a new mold, Sideswipe needs a new mold, and Prime needs a trailer for a Supreme class figure.

 

Optimus Prime is getting a redesign to his robot mode to look more heroic, and depending on how drastic the redesigns are, the ROTF Leader Class mold might not see another use. Takara is probably going to avoid many engineering headaches by taking massive inspiration from the ROTF toy's engineering with a few tweaks to the transformation where needed.
Optimus Prime toys with trailers are becoming increasingly uncommon, but I can see a Supreme Class Optimus Prime with Trailer coming out in the TF3 toyline.

 

As of now, my dream Movie Prime is a re-tooled version of the ROTF leader with BOTH guns, re-designed swords that do not get in the way as much, and the option to both display and not display the faceplate. This is obviously going off of his current design. If he gets some upgrades, I'd love to have them integrated.

I'm a bit iffy on the trailer. Until we see more of it, I don't know what to think. If the gimmick is as bad as the Primefire combo, I can do without it. Here's to hoping it'll turn out to be awesome.
