Just finished the last (for now) of the Shapeways Pretender shells, Bugly! Painted the Titan Master to sorta match his original G1 robot. There is also a group shot of all of the Shapeways Pretender shells.

Woah cool. Nice to see him in colour... Thanks fratboy for sharing, it is good to see people getting on and enjoying them and that does make this all more rewarding for myself. So thanks.

Oh BTW, some places i have taken very g1 ques and some places i have tried to change a few things even if it is just a weapon. So it maybe subtle but trying to spread the influences between toy, toon, comic marvel or more likely dreamware and if there is room i can change something myself...

The month of December is kicking my ass. Still fighting though.

Here what we can look forward to next. Grandmax and waverider and grimlock. I am testing printing service Sculpteo out which should be interesting. If all works out i may well transition away from shapeways, it won't be instant and i will try link any customers from SW back to this thread so they can be informed.

    Must also finish painting myself.

These are so stinkin' good, dude. Sorta wish they weren't 2x the cost of an actual Prime Master, but c'est la vie. I know that's beyond your control.

Definitely gonna get waverider and grandmax. I have micronus and vector prime extras ready to go. Grimlock doesnt fit my prime masters but maybe get anyways as a loner and use clobber titan master.

I kinda requested the grimlock one in the first place cuz of the clobber titan master. Since siege is all about target masters and potential action masters, I was pairing the clobber armor with potp snarl and of course potp grimlock needs his double barrel cannon which comes in the form of the grimlock pretender shell using cloudburst as the base.

It's typically used for sarcasm, and seeing as he's planning on selling this through Shapeways, the implication is that he would NOT make that money.

Are you aware of any production issues with these models? I just had to cancel a Mr. T because he just sat their at step 1 of processing for 3 weeks, holding up the rest of my order.

No, if they can be produced and they have been quite a few times, there should not be any issues.

That really sucks though. It is a problem on SWs end. I haven't used them since they implimented their price changes and extended the window forcast on printing times. Obviously they had their xmas sale so a lot of orders were made at once accross the site. Which may have also stumped them.

Did you message them and ask them?

I am in the process of waiting on my trial run of Sculpteo, so far i have waited 2 weeks for them to be made. Prior experience of SW could take a week to print and be delivered in just under 2 weeks. They extended the window for printing but i think that could be more to cover them if it goes over than actually it taking that time. I will try shapeways again after december and see the difference.

You should contact them and complain, they might offer you a discount....

Just heard back. You’re spot-on. Way too many holiday sales for their printers.

Hi guys. Sorry about the late updates, took my foot off the gas on the holidays.

So, i got tests from Sculpteo back. Sadly Sculpteo is a bust, the material i hoped might be ok was too soft in detail. So i will be moving forward on Shapeways as usual instead.

    image.jpeg

The Grandmax came out ok but really to soft... The finished thing will look better detailed than this.

So my last edits are being printed for the last 3 shells, grandmax, waverider and grimlock, and should be here next week. I expect to put the shells up for sale before the months end.

I will be selling grandmax and waverider in one print and this should cut costs, the costs that have gone up on SW, so this 2in1 print should sell for 27usd which i am pleased about that compares to the old prices. I will offer them in singles too but of course that price will be up alittle more.

    Thanks All!

Have you tried casting one of your figures yourself? See how it comes out.

I've thought about it. Unfortunately i have to weigh up my time, i only just have the time to design and develop each shell. To start casting each one and forward them, i am wary at the moment might take more of my time than would be healthy to keep things running. : (

I've never tried it anyway, yes after doing this i know it is the way forward to cast. Maybe, definitely something in the future, we shall see.
