Thanks. I'm wondering about the vehicle mode. I'm tempted to paint windows on the back with the G1 gun in the back to give it the G1 vehicle look or just leave it as is and go the G1 Scourge route and say it's a spacecraft/aquatic vehicle. I do like how his arms mimic the G1 figure in terms of shape and that I managed to attach the G1 head.
While I would prefer it if the alt mode was closer to his G1 self, I don't have the skill for a retool. Still, most modern Transformers don't share the alt mode of the original. Thankfully the Sith fighter is alien enough for a bit of licence.
Is that my Gutcruncher face I recognize there? I'd love pics of anything that use my parts to put on the FB group, but its hard to tell once painted when I've hit a similar type of item to someone else.
It is. I've bought a few pieces from you on Shapeways. You do amazing work. If I recall, the Spinister and Stranglehold faceplates are yours too. I just wish I was better at painting them.
I never liked any of Sandstorm toy heads apart from the Classics Voyager version as they never look like his G1 animation model. Today however I think I found a reasonable replacement.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not a patch on most of the customisers here but I'm content with how most of my customs have come out. I am glad I got to use the original heads for Rollout, Axer, Sprocket and Circuit. It's nice to not completely disregard the G1 figures due to my scale obsession. At least the heads keep them recognisable. I do like when my customs can interact with the original toy's accessories such as Glitch with Rollout, Axer's motorcycle, Kick Off's jet pack. I'd like to say I purposely do it that way but they're all happy accidents. I find painting the faces and optics to be the hardest part. I'm still not happy with Spinister and Needlenose.
Just curious, how do you avoid the paint flecking off Spinister's rotors, given those are soft plastic?
His drones? I take it you mean Energon Optimus Prime's drones? No I just thought the figure would make a good update for the G1 Micromaster Overload who is also in the picture. The fact they both have car transporter trailers was a pleasant bonus. I gave the 4 drones to my 3 year old nephew who enjoys playing with them.
