Prime Dark Energon Deluxe BBTS Exclusive - Spotted at US retail (sort of)

I was picking up a Soundblaster at a California Bay Area Toys R Us and spotted this baby on the customer service counter with a "do not sell" sticky note on it.

No sign of his case mates, but the staff said they accidentally opened the case and it wasn't supposed to be opened until January.

Had her scan it but it didn't show up in their system and they wouldn't sell it to me.  

My first thought was BBTS purchase and someone convinced a staffer to give them store credit for a TF prime deluxe, but they were very sure they had cases in the back and they'd be on the floor in January.

It's Bumblebee. Some numbskull obviously managed to "return it" to TRU.

 

Chances are, somebody just ordered a case to get the more desirable figures and just returned the BB to TRU to get another fig that doesn't suck.

 

I still want Bumblebee & Knockout, so here's to this stuff actually showing up.

 

Smells like returns shenanigans.

 

If they are insistent that they have stock in the back, very interesting, though I guess not terribly surprising since BBTS and TRU shared the FE rerelease and BBTS has also shared some of the Amazon exclusives.

 

Hmmm. I hope we see them at retail.

I'm going with return. Though if they were certain of having more and weren't mixing it up with the regular version or Beast Hunters then maybe someone will see a case of these later and show some pics for solid evidence

 

I seriously doubt it is a return. TRU is very anal with returns, it would have to have a Receipt and it would have to ring in their system.

 

Not to mention the employee specifically said they had more in the back. Not the sort of thing one would make up. But I guess we'll see.

 

An interesting find to say the least. I hope these come to TRU, I'd love to pick up the Wheeljack and Knock Out.

 

Yeah, that was the only reason I bothered posting. She knew the employee that specifically opened the case when he shouldn't have, the do not sell until January launch date as told be her manager, etc. I'm not saying its impossible that this is a bbts return to tru without a receipt, but the employee was totally aware of what it was.

 

Bumblebee looks good to me.

 

Yeah, and since the Prime Bee I have is from the FE line, it won't even be like I'm buying the same one if I pick this up. It'll be Goldbug to me anyway  

 

if that means I can pick them up 5 minutes from my house then that is news I like to hear

 

That Bumblebee is the only one I am remotely interested in. Would make a decent repurposed Goldbug

 

I can't see this being a return. I mean, aside from the obvious system issues that would bring up in the TRU pricing system, why the HELL would anybody buy a Dark Energon Bumblebee only to return it to Toys R Us for essentially less than what they paid for it?
