Paints Used: - Argent Silver Acrylic - Black Gloss Acrylic - Blue Gloss Acrylic - Gold Metallic Acrylic - Metallic Copper (mix of orange gloss, gold metallic and silver metallic) - Red Gloss Acrylic - Sky Blue (mix of 3/4 white gloss and a tiny amount of blue gloss) - Yellow Gloss Acrylic Mods: - Shaved off some plastic in the hands to allow for a less tight grip Yes I am aware of how extremely late I am with this custom and the ship of anyone actually giving a crap has long since sailed but hey its better than nothing. Really the only reason you'll probably check out this custom is not because of the figure but because of the more visually appealing sword that now looks awesome when wielded by anyone else. At least I finally got this figure out of the way and now I can focus on the rest of my Prime collection. With the exception of Breakdown (too expensive) and Airachnid (too crappy) I'll basically have all of my Prime figures painted. If I do anymore original pieces then it'll probably be either Beast Hunters Cryotek or Arcee done up in G1 colors. There's always time for new customs! Liking how yours came out, and the sword is pretty sweet. Like it's made of metal, but filler with energon!
Nice work. Late? Well that makes two of us as I am currently working on this figure myself. Although i am going a different route with mine.
Oh... My... God... this guy's awesome! the paintwork is amazing! Zigholtul, great job, man! I was on the fence whether to get the Hasbro (on sale now but green windshield and blades?) or the Takara version (pricey, better color & blue windshield & blades). but now, I'm set to get the Hasbro version, and I have you to thank for inspiration. THANK YOU! now, I just need to invest in some paint and time to do it.
Late in who's mind? Everyone is painting up these new AOE molds but I personally can't stand the way these new toys look. So,back to the others I say. Looking good!
Yeah that green color had to go. Well I don't plan on actually quitting anytime soon, I just started getting better. You thinking about making either a Toxitron or Nemesis Prime repaint out of this mold because that would be sweet. For me I'm better off just opting for the Hasbro releases. Even with the cost of paints and requiring a ton of time and effort it always beats out purchasing anything from Takara. I actually really want to paint some more of the AOE figures but I'm waiting till prices come down before I start purchasing more. Luckily for a customizer like me I don't just stick with any one particular aesthetic. I love them all equally. I'm thinking that once I'm finally finished up with Prime I might consider taking pictures of the entire line up and posting them here. I still need to work on like 12 more figures, maybe even more depending on how I'm feeling. I'm sure no one here would object to a BH Arcee done up in G1 colors.
No, more along the lines of a head to toe show accurate model right down to the window trim. I'm leaving the inaccurate mold details such as the spikes on my toy however and veering off model for the deco of those parts. I'm nearly done actually with about 30 hours into the project but I had to take a break. I'm getting old and I can't paint long hours like I used to. A fact I tend to neglect lol.
I really like this mold (even the head doesn't bother me). I'm still looking to find this figure for the right price so I can paint him. Nicely done!
Thanks mate. I'm actually rather surprised that anyone even remembers some of these old customs of mine.
I have one small questions, did you paint the windows in place to did you find a way to remove them? I would rather paint them where there is no chance of slop on to the body
Nah I simply just painted over the windows and I had to be really careful so there would be little room for error.
