I checked out these figures.
ROTF Bludgeon - TFWiki states: "the vehicle mode is one of the very few Transformer tank toys with rubber components to its treads. Portions of the tread links can unlock, allowing them to hang from the robot mode, while the wheels of the treads are integrated separately into the robot mode form itself. The treads still do not function realistically; small plastic wheels on the underside of the treads help the tank mode roll, as is standard with nearly all Transformer tank toys."
His treads just hang on him like kibble.
BH Shockwave - TFWiki states: "the left tread unfurls to become a hose that attaches to the permanently attached "Hyperflux Cannon" that makes up his left forearm."
He does it better, but then his treads connect to a part of his body.
For the tread-cape in that artwork to logistically work out, it would require a yoyo/pulley like component, where the tread is pulled out like a roll of sellotape or something. If the toymakers can work it out right, it will be quite a feat and I'd love them forever.
I loved the movie design (of Optimus) we got, but these are pretty awesome as well! Nice work as usual by JN!
I'd rather we have the designs we got (at least for the first three movies, AoE, not so much). As it stands, these look more like rejects from War for/Fall of Cybertron. While they're not bad, and maybe I'd take them for a reboot, they're also just total G1 fanwank. I'm glad we went with something a little bit different. After all, this is a fandom about change.
Am I the only one that just sees ironman armor with transformer heads?
The tank tread cape is cool, but all I really see is combinations of the Ironman armors from the 3rd movie
As robots, these designs are fantastic. But the vehicle kibble is a little too minimal for my taste- and look at how tiny the wheels on Optimus are!
I agree with Megatron31, these definitely have a lot of Iron Man in them, particularly Optimus.
Now that you mention it, I'm definitely seeing some Iron Monger/Hulkbuster thing going on with Megatron's design.
That, or they could be "fake kibble", like how sometimes toys have fake wheels molded into their feet or shoulders in robot mode.
I love these designs. They were probably influenced in part by Ironman's aesthetics, but more power to them for it. There is a good balance between G! and modern mechanical design. These guys are so bought even though Prime 1 Stu. statues are pretty expensive. I actually have their Arkham Knight Batman on pre-order.
That Megatron design is so good looking.
Holy krap...those are fantastic!
I love these designs for Optimus and Megatron. Wished there would be 3rd party figures of these instead of statues, but I have a feeling that they'll sell a whole bunch of these
There are aspects of the Movie style I like and aspects I dislike, but yeah, this mixed Movie/G1 aesthetic is pretty interesting. Not sure what I think of Megatron having a treads-cape, but they're still cool.
Prime1 Generation 1 Statue Teasers - Transformer World 2005 - TFW2005.COM
Super pumped to see this line, I hope they make a lot of them.
Hes getting so much right it actually hurts.. shame these are relegated to just statues and not actual screen characters
I enjoyed the crowned head Movie Megatron had, but that design is nice.
Can't wait to see the full design for Megatron.
Not sure what happened to the thread...
Megatread art has been around for a minute. Be interesting if they chose that specific concept to mold a statue after. So far the optibay prime looks promising
Now that's more like it.
