hehehe forgot the blue
You guys aren't wrong, but I think you and a lot of other people are forgetting that this only became an issue after the new trailers were released showing the Cybertron scenes. Before the new trailer we'd seen Bee, Blitzwing, Dropkick, and Shatter. People keep saying this movie has done such a faithful job of recreating the G1 looks, but none of those four are faithful G1 recreations, only the stuff depicted on Cybertron is. Now, hear me out:
This is why I'm absolutely convinced the scenes on Cybertron were added late in post-production. We all know the movie was originally conceived and scripted as a direct prequel to the Bayverse, but after the disappointing performance of TLK Paramount decided to distance themselves from that universe. I believe these scenes were added to further distance the film from the Bayverse and set it up as a new continuity. If the film does well they will make sequels, so I believe Paramount is putting all of their chips on this new film, and they knew the G1 additions would get fans excited (and they have). They may have had these scenes in the original script, but I think they changed the visual nature of them drastically in order to appeal to fans.
It's not just the Transformers, the look of Cybertron itself is so different. Compare those scenes to the opening of Dark Of The Moon. Visually it's completely different. Cybertron in DoTM has all of these weird hexagonal shapes everywhere and huge horizontal structures, but Cybertron in the Bee movie looks more like how it was depicted in the recent video games. And most of the TF's depicted on Cybertron in DoTM have Protoform modes, but now each one has a distinct look and colors.
So, that's where I believe the disconnect is coming from. They added the Cybertron scenes late in post and probably reused Blitzwing's CGI model for the Seekers as a way to save money. This is the only explanation that makes sense to me because there's SUCH a visual disconnect between the Cybertron scenes and everything directed on Earth.
I know right I absolutely love Blitzwings design. I'm honestly most excited to see him
You may have a point, but to go with a design that is so distinctly a seeker body, as heavily and sexily updated as it is, still doesn’t make since. Don’t get me wrong. I’m am 100% on board for this film. And to your point if they are distancing themselves so far from the bayverse, why not make this figure starscream? The color schemes on the other “seeker” models are distinct to prominent characters and maybe it is an assumption that these are thundercracker and skywarp, but Travis has been very faithful to the other characters. Why stop at this one character as a deviation. All the other one off figures are clear representations of who they are supposed to be. Why would blitzwing be any different?
Either way.... I am going to watch the hell out of this movie!
Does blue mean sarcasm? I didn’t know that! Man I learned something new today. I mean that with all sincerity.
This and Optimus are exactly what movie TF's could've looked like all along. The rest of the designs skew too far one way or the other, but if the next movie use designs like this then I'd be very happy.
Ay carumba! This thread! If you're looking for an in-universe explanation for "Blitzscream" it's just the fact he's a seeker, and that all seekers look alike. Production wise, I'm as clueless as everyone else here. But as a wise slow, green turtle once taught me "ignorance is bliss." And I'm content with that. I grew up with Animated and with Blitzwing, and I'll gladly take him in whatever package he comes in.
No hostility to the people who are frustrated by this, just my thoughts
I'm not entirely sure if thats Prime1. Looks smaller and... cheaper? compared to their previous work.
If it's smaller and cheaper, that's a plus.
I must have watched a different movie then.
Blitzscream looks very nice indeed
Wish they announced this as a Studio Series figure.
I got all excited thinking this was a studio series release. COME ON HASBRO
Yeah, seriously. Was about to say that myself.
Yeah! That announcement can't happen fast enough, I'm more excited for that than any other character right now.
Looks awesome! Almost has a robotech vibe to it.
While this does look really nice, I can\'t say that he was one of the main villains in the film.
We still need this bad boy.
