In the G1 episode "Call of the Primitives", the robotic assistant of Primacron is introduced. Primacron's Assistant, or "The Oracle" had the matrix within him. What is the significance of this and why? Any other speculation on this character?
Within the context of the cartoon itself? Absolutely none. Total mystery. It seems to at least imply some connection between the Matrix and Unicron, perhaps hinting at the reason the Matrix is able to hurt Unicron. I'd love to read the original script for the episode some day to see what sort of notes were made about it, if there's any extra meaning hidden in there. Within WIDER Transformers media? In the mid-2000s, Japanese continuity retconned the character into being an incarnation of Primus (a currently-ongoing manga implies that both Primus and Primacron were inhabitants of the previous universe that existed before this one, and survived/reincarnated when the universe was born anew). When he summons the Primatives to the dead world in "Call of the Primitives," the retcon states that he was summoning them *back in time* and that the "dead world" was the planet that he would go on to transform into Cybertron. After doing so, he entered hibernation in the form of Vector Sigma, whereupon the Quintessons found the planet, harnessed his power, and used it to create the Transformers.
My guess was always an animation error there’s nothing in the dialog of the scene to indicate anything other then that the Assistant was escaping, so I just thought the Animation team thought the model was an escape pod Has anyone ever gotten their hands on it?
