i just purchased animated rodimus and ironhide from toys r us! really pleased with the figuresi also purcahsed generations thrust! well the animated deluxes were 14.99 and thrust was 11.99! why the price difference? no other deluxes are over 11.99 just those 2! anyway just wanted to know if this has been discussed cause i know more than me noticed that! any input on this is appreciate
Maybe its because they are exclusives and the fact that they are pretty much the last animated toys that are getting a US release. Just speculation.
A couple guys in the Cali sightings thread mentioned this too. Not sure the reason for the price hike.
Sounds alittle odd but it be due to the exclusive nature of the figures. Up here in Canada they are 15.99 but so are all other deluxes at TRU. Walmart and other stores similar tend to be around 14.99 for deluxes.
I read some post before that said one of our members complained about 14.99 to the clerk and the clerk revised it to 12.99.
Even though they're still listed as out of stock, TRU raised the prices of both Rodimus and Ironhide online as well. As others have stated, I'd go with the "exclusives" explanation for the price change as it fits with their treatment of MP Grimlock, too.
I hate it when big companies decided certain "molds" are worth more so upped the price. I mean, online retail store is one thing, but TRU should be selling them at fixed price.
i live in southwest georgia! i bought them of course! i just thought the price hike was odd cause the cybertron racthet and arcee were regular deluxe prices!
It's not so much that the mold is worth more, but the fact that it is exclusive. Since TRU is the only store carrying it, the production run is probably 1/3 the size of a standard run, since no other stores carry them. It stiil costs the same to produce the toy, but that cost gets spread over fewer toys, so in the end, each toy cost a bit more than one from a standard run. I'm making up the numbers, but if it costs $10,000 to develop and engineer a mold, and you make 10,000 toys, the production cost is $1 per toy. If you only make a run of 3000 toys, it becomes $3.33 per toy, since it cost the same to design and engineer the mold. The retailer aren't going to eat the increased cost, so the price goes up to compensate. -Silvershot
