Anyone know how rare this figure is and how much a nice MIB would command?

This is a tricky one. Your buyers are limited to the hard core takara g1 guys as many people are fine with the reissue. In great condition id say $400-500. Just about finding the right person who wants it.

Well, never seen one without some sort of discoloration between the whites. The nasa sticker is the real prize if you can get it. I sold mine a while back for 1k, but it was the best specimen I have ever seen.

I love that toy. I have an AFA 90 vintage loose graded one. The box is beat, but the toy itself is perfect.

Anything else special about this toy? Do the arms extend like in the toy catalog?

Nope, mould is virtually identical to regular Astrotrain. Only the G1 prototype had the extending arms. The exclusive artwork is a nice draw too.

You can see the G1 proto somewhere towards the bottom here :)

Thanks for the input guys. This figure is real nice with just a hint of off-white, not even yellowed. The paperwork is complete with used label sheet, but the bot is missing 1 NASA sticker. The other is present.
Box has some shelfware, and there is a crease.
