Hey gang, I need a ballpark price check on Henkei Smokescreen, loose but complete. I did my usual ebaying but couldn't get a hit. So I come to the TFW crew for help. Thanks gang.
Last few I saw on ebay were listed at close to 100, iirc. The 'boo! Scalpers' crowd may see this as a conspiracy however.
MOSC anywhere from 70-100. There was one I found on a google search that went for $60 sometime in July on ebay MOSC. Though I havent looked too terribly closely, some of the classic figures finally seem to be coming off their peak prices lately.
Those prices i talked about earlier were for unopened, i'd guess maybe knock $20-25 off for opened???????? Whilst i'm not a fan of the mold.....nor do i necessarily subscribe to the idea that Henkei automatically > Classics.... Henkei Smokscreen's deco makes the Hasbro version look like some sort of knock off.
I'd rather have them release stuff they never even made Henkei figures of, like Cliffjumper and Ultra Magnus.
I picked up a MOSC henkei smokescreen for $70 half a year ago on evilbay people on TFW were asking for $80 loose and $100 MOSC at the time.
Why doesn't Hasbro release the figures like the Henkei Line atleast with the Anime correct coloring. Smokescreen and Dinobot come to mind. I think I paid $27 for Henkei Smokescreen from BBTS when he came out.
Because U.S.bulk retailers squeeze Hasbro into shipping case assortments at a fixed price point, and will not budge on the price they will pay. That's part of the reason why DOTM toys lack paint, and are on the small side. Takara on the other hand ship entire cases of single Deluxes, and each Deluxe may have it's own price. United Jazz for instance may have a Japanese retail price just slightly higher than United Tracks. That's an example, and shouldn't be taken literally. It comes down to the fact that the Japanese toy market and U.S toy market are rather different. For their part, there are probably quite a few collectors in Japan who wish they could pick up a Deluxe for $12 or less instead of the 20+ they're charged for what is often an identical toy.
Yes, but the DOTM figures are pretty much all the same paint-wise minus HA Leadfoot in the foreign markets. I think thats the most diaspointing aspect of the DOTM figures is the lack of paint even though I think the figures are not bad.
Damn. I just deleted all my PMs, which included a deal on Henkei Smokescreen from a board member, binalternator. Can't remember how much I payed.
Considering a rerelease of Henkei Hot Rod is not getting in the way of another apparent release of the Deluxe Hot Rod mold in United, I doubt any Henkei rereleases would hamper a hypothetical United/Takara release Deluxe Cliffjumper or Ultra Magnus.
I paid 40 for mine a few months back. It really does make the classics one look like trash off the street.
Not a fan of the wonky read chrome on the spoiler but other than that - Wow - it is not even close how much better it is. Really makes you wonder what the heck hasbro was thinking because it's not like there's less paint on it.
