As we all know, the silver paint on toy cars such as Hot Wheels and Transformers Spychangers rub off very easily. Would coating them with clear nail polish be a good fix? Any other recommendations?

Any glossy coat would work, but the nice thing about future besides its durability is that its totally transparent and has no impact on the underlying color, so it doesn't reduce a metallic paint's luster.
