From the discussion about the leaked TLK figures it appears that a lot of people think that the Premier Edition figures are preview or first editions. However, people are mistaking 'premier' for 'premiere', and there's a difference. Also, on the listings that Nevermore reported on here, the Amazon.com listings were labelled as 'Gen' (though these have since been removed), while the Amazon.ca listings have all the voyagers and deluxes as 'Pre'. Nevermore also stayed that the info he has confirms all the leaders to me Premier Edition too. And at the event in Hong Kong where Shadow Spark Optimus and Movie Masterpiece Bumblebee were revealed, the Hasbro marketing rep said that the Premier Edition is their "movie accurate" line. So it seems they're making these as their 'premium' line, making the point even more so with the Premier Edition logo and boxing up the deluxes. Clearly, though, these are far from premium or screen accurate, which is a shame, because this could've been an opportunity to offer Platinum Edition level paint jobs from the outset instead of compromising, and made them into a proper collectors' line, rather than something that's straddling the collectors' and children's market.
If that's the case then I wonder if all deluxes will be boxed like Barricade. Guess we'll find out at Toy Fair
It's just sales rhetoric, they give us it every time a movie is out and as much as im not so much a collector of the toys, they are special to me and I do have some, and it just appears that the more the characters change movie wise the more of a challenge it is to keep them accurate and at a respectable production cost Case in point....hound same bot , two different vehicles. Drift too....it's all extra costs so I suppose something has to give to a certain degree. Maybe once they've recovered costs then there will be more extravagant issues released
Did you read my initial post? I mean, yeah, they're definitely not premium quality, but that's what Hasbor's alluding to when they label them 'Premier'.
Yeah, they're exaggerating there lol The Voyager Optimus is so frustrating; I get they have to be strict with how much paint they use to stay in budget, and having flames all over the bot mode would be too expensive, but then they go and do silly things like paint loads of orange or the same blue as the eyes allover the accessories, when a little red would've been more accuarate, or paint the collar blue when it could've been left grey, but leave the thigh armour grey when it should've been blue. So much for accuracy.
