well the UK comics and US comics are birds of a different feather....i remember as a kid reading the US version of the comics(when i lived in the netherlands) and then trading UK(british) kids TMNT comics for their UK transformers comics(which i still have)and being totally freakin confused....while true the cartoon is my first intro into the transformers world and the one i hold dearest to me heart..i perfer the comics UK or US over any version..

I liked both, but the cartoon was better.

Grew up reading the comics, which was the more accessible media in the UK in the 80s. Some great stories in there, though that is not saying that there weren't any goods ones in the cartoon. But 'Time Wars', 'Target 2006', etc are classics, plus the story of Unicron/Primus is a better origin than the cartoon one.

I can't stand the cartoon, it's almost unwatchable for me...

The comics on the other hand are godly!

    Comics.

I do really like the Dreamwave and Ladybird versions as well. I love Scorponok's voice in Autobot Hostage. Exactly as I imagined it when I read the Marvel comics. Like Movie Soundwave.

Plus I liked seeing Scoop and Quickswitch get some screentime.

Dreamwave combined the Marvel and cartoon, filtering out the crap and leaving us with all the good from both. The MTMTE really showed how well they knew each character.

    Don't make me choose!

    Ok -- comics.

Jeepers. The whole Auto-team sans Ratchet was near death or dead for several issues. Shockwave was awesome. Ratchet is my hero! (Warrior School)

I enjoy them both, but I've gotta go with the comics on this one.

G1 cartoon. I'm more familiar with it. I've read a select few Marvel comics, but couldn't quite get myself into them.

The G1 comics by a considerable distance for me.

Nothing I saw in the cartoon came close to the comic characterizations of Shockwave, Swoop, Blaster, Grimlock, Ratchet. The comic just had more mature storytelling, which even as a 7 year old I appreciated.
