I am a huge fan of Chogin Masterforce. I have found a few places to get Powermaster Optimus Prime for under $40' and am considering buying. However' i know PM Prime is not exactly the best figure one could get for $40, and im only considering it because of how awsome the character of Ginrai is. Should i buy the toy just for the character it is, or skip for a better toy, but not a better character?
get God Ginrai with the Diecast chest and hands that go in Its 10 times better than the US Powermaster Prime Its actually one of my top figures to keep for sure.
That would be the Japan TRU exclusive Nucleon Quest Super Ginrai. But you WON'T FIND a Black Godbomber to go along with that Super Ginrai. Else, you may wanna consider getting Fire Guts God Ginrai as released by e-Hobby.
If we're talking about toys, I honestly can't think of a better value for $40 than a Powermaster Prime. It might be a brick, but that thing has a LOT of play value. A LOT OF IT.
Sorry for a super-noob question, but I'm confused about the upgrade armour(s). I've seen a few pictures that look cool and am aware that the upgrades are linked to some of the shows, but these were frankly after my time so I missed out on learning about these(oldschool g1 kid ) and I'm not sure whats what with them. Does it/they work with the US/Euro version of powermaster prime and is it easy enough to find or can only be bought as part of an existing pm prime. What names do I need to look out for and which cartoons make use of these armours? I think I've seen versions with a silver extra chest piece, with extended legs and a winged version too??. Colour me confused! Any guides or links would be great.
your best bet is to look at the Powermaster Prime images at TFU.info: Optimus Prime (1988) - Autobot Leader - www.tfu.info Optimus Prime (2003) - Autobot Leader - www.tfu.info Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex Armor (2003) - Autobotn Defense Commander - www.tfu.info Those are the 3 versions of PM Prime on their site- the bottom one has the "wings" i think you referred to. that's where i go when i am shopping on eBay for a PM Prime. it does get confusing with all the names. I want a complete PM/God Ginrai but on eBay they want a huge chunk o' change for him. never saw one for 40, sigh.
I've got a couple of old beat up Powermaster Primes that I'm selling. Not much in the way of accessories, but you can get both from me for cheaper than $40.
try for the god ginrai japanese reissur, the cab and paint are a lot nicer and you get the extra armor/bot with it
Get the Japanese Reissue of Powermaster Prime with the armor. He's got diecast parts and is very sharp looking. I have both the original US PowerMaster Prime and this one and I think I spent a lot more than 40 bucks for it in 2001 but I don't regret getting it at all.
When Hasbro reissued the PM Prime at TRU, I was able to get a Japanese reissue for around $50-55 shipped online. At the time, many online stores were overstocked with it. As for PM Prime, I have to agree with this: That's well said, man. Well said
I loved PM Prime as a kid, and as an adult, I think I love it even more! I got my reissue for $20 off of toywiz.com, lol. What a great deal (this was like 6 years ago or something though). But I enjoy the toy so much, that I'm now in the market for the Nucleon Quest and Fireguts versions too, and I rarely buy recolors, much less expensive ass ones like that.
I still have my U.S. Powermaster Optimus prime from when I was a kid; so its my preferred incarnation of prime. Its a solid figure with lots of guns, three reasonable modes (especially If you have micromasters for the base) Great molded detail. And those G1 silver reflective mech detail stickers. The ginrai armor looks awkward to me. But if you can get ginrai for a good price. Go ahead, you get the same base toy either way.
even if you leave godbomber as a separate bot, the base cab is a whole lot nicer on the japanese one, the extra paint around the grille (gets rid of the powermaster shaped grey splotch) the chrome, and the clear blue windshield really set the truck mode off, along with the retractable fists and more silver trailer
