I still put my money on the gold ranger costume being the coolest, but for a violet ranger(a color i never thought they would do.) geki-violet looks good. I also would be in favor of reissuing older megazords, but theres too small a market for this. A $40 toy(or whatever they would cost) with no TV show support would not sell to your majority market...kids. Now when they were constantly showing all the Power Rangers from past seasons(I forget what they called this little gig), this would have been the time to reissue.
Generations. God that was awesome...was SO happy when Toon Disney was doing that. Got to rewatch MMPR and Zeo.
when i saw the world "Engine"....first thing came to mind was Power Rangers: Turbo...which i think was the crappiest/lowest point of all series...
The name's actually full of puns... In kanji the word 'enjin' translates to Flame God, as well as sounding like "engine". The title, Go-onger, aside from the "Go On" pun, is also a combination of the japanese words for 'thunderous sound', like an engine would make. Fairly clever to work in that many, I think.
Any word yet on if Green, Black, and Navy are actually going to be Rangers in Jungle Fury, or are just for the toys?
I haven't heard anything yet, but I'd hope so. Somebody has to train them to use the Geki-armements or whatever they're gonna be called. Can't wait to get these two along with that Mele & Bae figure
Those look awesome. Out in March eh? Hmm..may have to pass for a while on those, too much out these next few months.
Those big cartoon eyes on the helmets and mecha are really turning me off. Take those out, and the designs are actually halfway decent.
The eyes on the helmets don't bother me much. It's a nice touch, I think. But eyes on the mechas are absolutely hideous. I still have a problem with them.
1) It's not a Zord. 2) They have eyes because they are sentient beings 3) Good mecha doesn't make a good sentai series, story and characters do.
Why isn't it a zord? The Engine's are living mechs, similar to the Gingaman or Gaoranger zords. It still doesn't mean the combination of the three doesn't look really stupid. While I'll agree on that, there are a few series that the zords were the only redeeming quality (GoGo-V comes to mind). EDIT: Unless you don't like the term "zord" because of the whole PR vs. Sentai thing. I like the term zord for both shows.
Zords are the American term and usually zords lose things like sentience that set them apart from Sentai's mecha. He's not trashing them, he's just stating offense to using the term on Super Sentai's mecha, because fact is they aren't Zords. While I might agree it looks odd and if they have to have eyes they dont have to be so cartoony, we haven't seen the series yet, for all we know it might make sense for them to have eyes and having none might be worse.
That's just semantics as far as I'm concerned. I like the term Zord for Sentai/PR bots, and mecha for something more mature (Evangelion, Gundam, etc.).
yeah, for as long as I've been watching sentai, I've always referred to them as zords. My previous post was actually the first time I ever remember using the term "mecha". But even though I agree the eyes are not looking good, I do like the design. Anybody here watching GekiRangers? I couldn't wait so I watched the raws to episodes 46 & 47 and those two episodes delivered even though I couldn't understand a single word, lol
As long as it's "mature" it's a mecha? That's ridiculous. Sentai mecha pre-date "Zords". It's not semantics, it's you refusing to respect a 31 year old Japanese television series.
How about we all calm down and call them big metal thing? No seriously. Calm down and teach the facts of the 2 series' differences in a civil manner.
