I'll give Zyuhoger this: they had perfectly decent helmets.

These? These look like goofy foot soldiers the Rangers should be fighting. The big goofy clown shoes and tires for the visors just looks silly. There's no personality to the shapes and it's just a literal tire, not even just a tire motif. I also feel like they've swung too far in the opposite direction of King Ohger and deprived the suits of colour, rather than having too much of the primary colour.

Damn, even the material looks cheap. How the hell did we go from King Ohger to this? :lol

They accidentally spent a good chunk of 2024’s budget on King Ohger, which is why it was so good but now there is…this

That makes me think of my joke in regard to Dynaman and Bioman. Bioman lacks explosions and sparks because they accidentally used two year's worth of explosion money on Dynaman.

Okay...I get what they were going for here with the whole "race car driver" look, but...as others have already pointed out, the costumes look very boring...like I would have used two different shades of their primary color. Like for the Red Ranger, the upper half could be their main red color and the rest of the suit a darker version...like the color differences Dino Charge/Kyoryuger had between the suits and the arms of the suits.

Also, the boots...even since the comparison to Kingdom Hearts was made above, I cannot unsee them. Should have just gone with more normal boots really.

And lastly, the helmets...At first, I wasn't too bothered, I mean I get what they're going for here...but...maybe instead of slapping an entire tire on the helmet, they should have just gone for the rim designs as the visors? Yes, it would draw even more comparisons to the helmets from Zeo/Ohranger, but I don't see that as a bad thing. Honestly my main thought with these helmets now is..."How do the actors see out of them!?"

Same, they do look like Speed Racer or Nascar inspired.

Oddly enough I am all for the thick layers of camp and kitsch they are doing here.

The all white suit is a choice but I imagine they really wanted to hone in on these suits being based on fire suits since I vast majority of them are portrayed mainly in white. The color blocking from the right glove, to the upper torso, and then to the garrish helmet design is just enough color for me to offset that white.

And to cap it all off this poster is punctuated by the tagline "Coming Boon". I am here for it.

Well this just unearthed long buried memories. I forgot the hard push NASCAR made to try to make it a super popular thing with kids

Yeah, those suits don’t look very good. I think what kills it for me are the helmets. They look like if Zeo and Turbo made out in a dumpster and this was the result.

    That would explain a lot.

Is King Ohger actually good? I only made it 8 or 9 episodes in, thought it was awful and the show hurts my eyes. Does it get better?

King-Ohger has been absolutely amazing. There's been no filler episodes at all as every episode builds on the plot in some form, the fight scenes are fantastic with stellar camera work, the character development has been exceptional, and they keep the mech battles to a minimum. Like we had No Mech November as not a single episode of King-Ohger that aired in Nov had a mech fight as it was fully focusing on story. There's a two year time jump after episode 26 too, as the show begins a new story arc. It really feels like anime as a Sentai show and it is so refreshing. Plus, the new batch of villains that have been around in this second arc have been a credible threat.

Yeah, the backgrounds did take some time to get used to, and they still have their moments of "That looks bad," but it really sets everything apart from its brethren. There's one moment where the main villains tells the King-Ohgers he is sending them to the most miserable place in the universe,
which ends up being on the Kyoryuger's Earth, so we got a nice little crossover that actually worked.
