Yep. Reported by io9, corroborated by TMZ. https://gizmodo.com/obituary-jason-david-frank-power-rangers-1849806348 Goodbye JDF, thanks for being one of the good ones.
I'm pretty sure his second wife leaving him and his step-daughter dying had slightly more impact on him than mean things said on the internet
I rarely if ever post pictures of myself on the internet but today I’m willing to make to make an exception Rest in Power king
Even though I was less and less a fan as time went on he was still a childhood hero that meant a lot to me, so this hits kinda hard.
RIP JDF. Even though I aged out around In Space, I always loved how passionate he was for his character and the franchise even years afterwards, and it meant a lot to me. Sending prayers to his family and loved ones.
He really made the most of his time as a Ranger. He came back time and again. He interacted with fans. He did fan films and tie-ins. He consulted on comic books. He was probably the first Power Ranger actor to become a millionaire in a job that started out thankless and low pay by entertainment standards, to a point where the show lost three of its original cast over pay disputes. And it wasn't easy work by entertainment standards. He was a real, accomplished martial artist. He had four biological kids who are without a father and he lost his step-daughter last year. And like many have said, he was a real hero onscreen to generations growing up.
absolutely, similar case with Robin Williams where it just seems like they're doing good but aren't really. Really enjoyed seeing the posts where he's interacting with the fans and how many enjoyed him showing up. I dropped out of PR around Lost Galaxy, but came back for Dino Thunder, even if he was just briefly on it there (fwir) This was just a hit in the gut to wake up to first thing in the morning today, may he Rest in Power.
I mean, this one didn't really seem like he was doing good. His wife left him because he cheated on her and his step-daughter killed herself.
Wow. Two childhood heroes gone so close together. JDF was an awesome guy and he always talked about positivity and keeping a positive attitude. Depression is a bitch. I wish society would take it more seriously and not stigmatize it. We loose too many good people to suicide because of it. Rest in peace JDF. You were a childhood hero and an inspiration to me even as an adult. Now though I understand your messages about keeping a positive outlook wasn't just for your fans but what you must have been telling yourself regularly. Damn this sucks.
I am constantly going back and forth with myself about whether I want some rangers on my shelves. But with today’s news I’m leaning pretty hard towards yes. Seems like lightning collection is the “general” line for collectors, Ultimates is a step up and then 3Z has their figzero figures for the high end market? And I guess Mafex is getting in on things, and Bandai, true to form, has an overpriced shodo set. where’s a good spot for reviews comparing the various figures? I love the way 3Z’s figures look but I don’t have a lot of room, so a team of 6 huge figures is probably out. But the Ultimates ones look fine to me, just not familiar with the line or Super7 in general.
Coincidently, Gamestop's ran out of their slightly discounted Dragonzords. Wouldn't be shocked if fans are making honorary purchases today. I'm certainly considering a DZ more than usual, despite still thinking it's not worth $130
I'm not a huge MMPR fan by any means, I was already a teenager when it hit but I've long enjoyed the energy JDF brought to his appearances and his obvious love for the franchise. So I preordered the Ultimates Green Ranger.
Well I didn't know he had a step daughter. I try not to pry into the personal lives of celebrities. Secondly, my point still stands that trolls are going to cheer.
Sad day. The man was really the face of the franchise for so long and he was the coolest when I was kid first watching MMPR. I hope he's found rest.
